Other words from his interview.. He said he isnt in a hurry to get in the ring and for the first time in 20 years or since he got out of prison he is happy with life. Goes on about how he had to fight a bunch of fights for low amounts of money before getting famous...He said something to the effect that Adamek should try and walk in my shoes. Whatever Hopkins went through IMO has nothing to do with this fight or Adamek in general.WTF is this guy babbling about i dont get. He also said that they are still trying to work something out but if the fight doesnt happen "you can blame me or someone else but in the end people will have to accept it."
Hopkins was a threat, too bad this fight didn't come off. Oh well, it spurred negotiations with Johnson and Jones, two others who could get Adamek on HBO. And now that RJJ wants it, you never know: Hops just might change his mind to spite RJJ.
I guess Hopkins doesn't want to fight him as it's clear that Adamaek would bring the live gate, and would be easy to market as a 'sellable' opponent to B-Hop. Shame, I really believed Hopkins could do it. I also think Valuev is less risky fight (I'm not kiddin') and that Hopkins would probably get more money and plaudits for jumping straight up to HW and beating him! Will never happen. However, with an Adamek fight first it could and would make even more money!!! However, Hopkins vs. Valuev would surely be the most boring fight of all time. It would be a spectacle however, to see old man Hopkins darting around the 7' behemoth and peppering him with shots. He'd win EVERY single round!!! Dominate Valuev from start to finish. Hell, it's my fasntasy fight, maybe Hopkins rocks him ever so slightly with a grazing right on the temple (thrown with both feet off the floor) Only to lose a close Majority Decision :rofl
This is a professional sport and you must pay to have the opportunity to beat a fighter with the name of Bernard Hopkins. You guys simply don't get it - Hate it or Love it, Bernard spent 10 years making a name for himself with MW belts around his waist, and now anybody who beats him and simply for that reason, becomes a name ( Jermain Taylor, Kelly Pavlik ( the man who beat the man))... Listen, you want to have a chance to be great, simply come up with the check! Money talks and BS walks... It has nothing to do with being good enough, it means you gat to deserve that opportunity - No Charity undeed!
Hopkins has nothing to prove, he should retire now. Only a fight with fellow golden oldie Jones would be worth his time. Valuev doesn't deserve to be in the same ring as Hopkins.
Thats Valuevs problem.... He should of NEVER got rid of his old trainer. Valuev was being a cry *****, when his trainer, while shorter than him while Valuev is sitting down, slapped him a few times and tried to motivate him. Now all he does is jab. Hes so boring now.
It is the same problem again and again with those american boxers - Taylor, BH, Pavlik etc. I dont really understand how those guys can pick exatly the boxer they want to, especially not when you look at there records - they lost god damed and even more than once! Oh yeah im a legend my ass and BH you lost to a white boy, *******!!!
well where else is hopkins gonna get the kind of money he is turning down? dawson? no. RJJ rematch? probably not (unless rjj beats somebody legit and fans really think he's somewhat back). I'd say adamek's people were being very fair with the split and hopkins might regret turning down this money (if he nees/wants money).
For Number 1, Hopkins doesn't need it but Adamek would want it or else he wouldn't have made the offer just b'cause Hopkins mentioned his name. Number 2, Hopkins may make the same amount of PPV cash with a dozen names from MW through LHW including the aforementioned Chad Dawson, Roy Jones Jr, Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, the three SMW titlists Carl Froch, Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler, the two MW titlists in Arthur Abraham and Kelly Pavlik, Jermain Taylor and more, basically with everyone, again a position which Thomas Adamek doesn't have even holding a CW title... So it's not Hopkins future ( or past) we're basically talking about here. Hopkins will fight again and it will be against someone who puts the right amount of money on the table to earn the opportunity to make a name for himself, just like Calzaghe at one time. It's all and only business, we all know it.
"Fukc Bernard Hopkins and his entire Team." He is no ****ing champion, Adamek makes the rules baby. Bernard needs to see an orthodontist and grow some balls and accepy Toney's challenge. James "Lights Out" Toney will beat the **** out of Bernard Hopkins for free in the street.
BHop is extremely frugal but I figure DLH came up with the bottom line. Hopkins strikes me as a follower in these negotiations.
Yeah both you and Hopkins need to get the **** off of your high horse and come back down to reality. Hopkins called out Adamek first of all.Second of all Adamek isnt asking fofr much and Hopkins will no matter what walk away with the lump sum of money. Im just curious to know when Hopkins reached DLH or Tyson status?Since when is Hopkins so ****ing special?Go fight a no name in Philly on PPV BHOP and see how much money GBP loses. He is defensive in that whole interview which leads me to believe he got cold feet.
It's very simple IMO.If Adamek didnt bring in fans he wouldnt be in a position to demand more but the fact of the matter is they can fight in Philly and Adamek would easily bring in 500k worth of ticket sales. Hopkins is running out of options.Maybe now he can actualy fight a real LHW in the form of Johnson or Dawson.
