Manny never did. Manny didnt have the most experienced trainers and nutritionists to properly advise him on what weight he should have been at. He only just won his titles, tried to defend it and before he knew it, he couldn't make weight. If he had guys like Roach & Arum in his corner then, they would have seen what was coming and not risk him loosing the fight...play it safe.

I do credit Floyd though for always fighting at the correct weight...but its not like he was ever underweight until he went to 154. He had the right frame for the weights and he didnt put on weight so much at fight night because he trained all year round.

 

Now this makes sense.

Floyd is the best fighter of this generation hands down while Pacman has the better story..

 

Fair enough. I still say that Floyd's olympic and amatuer competition was deeper and more talented than the opposition Manny fought in his teens.

 

Floyd's the best, Manny's the most exciting.

 

But even Floyd would lose to Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright, and was ascared to fight Cotto.

So is Mosley the best too? Cuz he was not ascared to fight Margarito, and Floyd had 30 minutes of televised ducking documented evidence.

 

There's truth in this.

If all I judged a fighter on was skill, nothing else, I'd be a raging Floyd Boy.

And Cotto and Arum would not fight Floyd, not the other way around. Floyd openly campaigned for a Cotto bout.

Exactly my point. In a way you can compare this to Hagler-SRL. SRL was hyped and given the world before he even achieved anything in the pro's, Marvin had to work his way up the hard way, true blue collar fighter. PBF was an olympian coming from a very famous boxing family, Manny was still fighting for survival.

 

I'm sure it was...heck Amir Khan's amateur career is as deep as many elite fighters pro career today. Amateur & pro is different though, you can hide your losses in amateurs, you cant hide it in the pro's. Unfortunately for fortunately for some, depending on how you see it, their early pro career IS their amateur career. I'm sure PBF has lost some amateur fights.
