I think you can make a pretty good case that Cotto has already faced better opposition than Calzaghe did. While he fought a lot of guys who weren't big names at the time, many of them (Torres, Malignaggi, Quintana, N'Dou, Maussa) went on to become titleholders, which is indicative that he was facing the top up and coming names. Cotto's fought more former and future titleholders than Calzaghe has in his career, and he's fought just as many top 20 P4P types (two).

Lol, the fact that those five names have a combined record of 22-11 since they faced Cotto is rather indicative that they weren't the 'top up and coming names'.

All five did go onto pick up a title which is a sad reflection on how easily 'world' titles are to come by these days. Three of them did not manage to defend that title. Maussa is, of course, the most laughable claim. Yes, he did somehow manage to catch Vivian Harris on a night where he was bad enough for Maussa to actually beat him. Maussa then went onto to lose three fights in a row, most recently blasted out in one by Ortiz. N'Dou's title came courtesy of a win over a guy with wins over a bunch of stiffs in Australia and who apparantly earned a shot at the vacant title by beating Morua and then losing to Urango. N'dou couldn't defend the title and has lost three of his four subsequent fights. Quintana picked up a title by outboxing Williams, the fact that he was sparked in the rematch lends to the suspicion that it was something of a lucky win over a off form fighter. Hasn't done anything much else in his career. Malignaggi and Torres at least managed a couple of defences of their titles altough both have lost subsequently (albeit controversially in Torres' case). Malignaggi hardly hit the heights and appears done at this point. Torres still has some promise for the future.

Listen m8, I used to be a big Joe fan.

I think Calzaghe is an exceptionally talented crafty fighter!

I think he betrayed me and u "THE CONSUMER" for many years.

I dipped his feet @ top level once (vs BHOP), I think he beat B Hop 114-113

but I think he took the easy way out and retired, he should have fought on and proved his greatness against Adamek, Dawson Pavil even (he could have faced Pav instead of Bernard).

A few more names of top quality then there could be no argument.

But the problem is Joe has been the best "RISK rewward " manager i have seen.

Is that why you're so obsessed with him now? Numerous threads and comments either directly or indirectly on the subject? And that's just with this alias, God knows how many when we include your previous aliases.

Here's a tip: Calzaghe's retired. Maybe watch some other fighters? You might even find it entertaining! Maybe talk about them?

Calzaghe, examples being Pudwill,Manfreado,Shieka,Starrie. He only ever took risks late in his career. You could even include Lacy in the list of bad opposition. The guy was inexpierenced and massivley over hyped,i will get a load of stick off Joes fans for saying it but its true the guy had only fought about 22 times and who has he beaten since?

And who should Calzaghe have been fighting at that time rather than the IBF champion, pray tell...?

lol you're sadly mistaken if you think Cotto is my boy. of course i'll back him up and root for him since he's from PR but he has way too many flaws he needs to work on. like i said earlier to someone else - what would you do if you felt you got cheated out of a fight? he's not complaining either. i find it funny how actual boxing experts (not some wannabe intellectual boxing forum troll) says Cotto could not behave or handle the situation better than he's doing at the moment, then we got ppl like you (troll) saying he's crying and whining  :hi:

i hope the Klitschkos continue their dominance, it would look pathetic on their part if they lose to a bum.

oh and BTW, i was just stating my opinion to the thread topic which in case you haven't read it says - Which of these fighters faced the
