It's good to see Slappy far ahead in the polls as he should be.

although joe got wiser with age, the big names were only prepared to fight him after his physical prime had gone and passed, people forget that joe was past his prime when he faced lacy, i respect that you used to be a jc fan and he could have gone on for longer

Adamek would have never been on joes list because he isnt a marque name

dawson would be labeled another jeff lacy, which is harsh on lacy as calzaghe ruined him

to be honest i so wished he had thought pav, but i can see the threads now, PAVILIK WAS NO GOOD ANYWAY.

What people dont realise is JC went for the names from the start but wasnt able to get them, partly due to warren and partly down to him being high risk, low reward. it would have been nice if mosley was around jc weight, because mosley doesnt duck anyone and would have given joe a chance

when joe finally got the marque names, he didnt care what other matches were out there. he just wanted recognisation.

It pleases me to know that the people who drag joes name through the dirt will always be drowned out by the general public.

Actually, it has been Cotto. He's only faced one HoF fighter, and it was a contreversial win.

    Calzaghe.

Apart from a few stand outs, Mosley's isn't that great either.

EDIT: Didn't even notice Cotto was listed. But he is kind of at the mid-point in his career, so we shouldn't really be making judgments at this stage.

So you would go as far as saying that Cotto has fought better opposition than Mosley????????

No, I voted Cotto (despite being my favourite active fighter). But like I say, Cotto is at a very different stage of his career than Mosley or Calzaghe.

It's definetly between Cotto, Calzaghe and Mosley.

Hatton from this list but the OP could have included top fighters with much worse resumes but for some reason decided not to :huh

But this is another attempt at Calzaghe hate post by the OP obviously.

He even put Calzaghe at the top of his list in the poll

Only software limitations stopped the word 'Calzaghe' from being bold, flashing and surrounded by little stars :-(

How did I know that Joe Cal and Ricky would be the two most voted?

OK. I cannot disagree with Joe, although I think many Americans over look and under rate much of his opposition (not due to any kind of xenophobia, bigotry or obnoxiousness and arrogance, simply because you are not so familiar with the names) it is true that he didn't come near to proving himself until, well, not even Lacy but Kessler (there were blips here and there like Eubank, who though not peek was still a force to be reckoned with, it's just his heart and desire to destroy had completely deserted him with the Watson fight and seeing what had happened to McClellen.

It is completely unfair though to suggest Ricky has fought poor opposition. Completely untrue, unfair and disrespectful not only to Ricky but also to the fighters he has beat.

People go on and on about the only good names on his list being well past it but this is just shite! OK, they weren't prime but they were still highly rated and were still winning bouts AND they were still thought to walk all over Ricky and destroy him!

I've seen all your posts, you wankers who have this weird, obsessive hatred for Ricky for no other reason than... what? I just cannot understand it. Out of all the boxers out there ruining the sport, you pick on someone who has made it so more entertaining, is a cracking fighter and decent boxer, who has the heart of a lion and makes all his fights entertaining for seasoned fight fans and those with only the most general of interest in the sport. He is hugely respected by all the other boxers out there. Hopkins and Jones, Kessler, JMM and all the Mexicans cannot speak highly enough of him! Even Mayweather has claimed his win against Ricky to be one of his toughest fights yet and that Rick was certainly the toughest man he has fought. He brings in millions of dollers and thousands and thousands of new people to the sport. He is completely respectful to people in the game and to the supporters. I mean, I could go on and that isn't even to mention what he is like outside the ring. Many of you have just decided, without any evidence at all (in fact, with all evidence to the contrary) that he is a horrible person and that everything he has said or anyone has said about him being down to Earth is bull****. This is the kind of blind obnoxiousness I hate. Just makiing things up about the guy to further your weird agenda's! The fact is, he really is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Not one of the nicest sports stars or celebs, one of the nicest member of the public you could meet. I don't say this through presumption or because I heard people in Boxing say it, I say it because I know the man, live up the road from him and because it's completely TRUE!!

Anyway, dunno where all that came from. This was only supposed to be a very quick post, a paragraph. I guess I got carried away <blush>

The point is, so many of you who hate Ricky (and so many of you who are without bias and good, knowledgable fans of the sport) laughed at the idea of Rick fighting Kostya or Castillo et al. You had decided Ricky had no chance and was going down early.
Of course this never happened and suddenly those fighters are past it, worn out and a shell of their former selves. Where was that criticism before the fights? It wasn't coming from you! You know who you are and many of us remember who you were.

It is just so ****ing disrespectful to all fighters. If you ever get the opportunity to speak to that ****ing wonderful boxer, Kostya Tszyu, ask him about the Hatton fight. He will tell you exactly where he was pre-fight and during the fight and he will tell you that the better man won on the night. He is now a big fan of Hattons and speaks to him regularly. Especially before one of Rick's fights to wish him all his luck and give advice if he can.

Castillo also has never taken anything away from Ricky and claims the knock out blow to be possibly the best punch he has ever taken.

Both these proud men would be pretty disgusted with the way Rick's fight against them has been so pathetically maligned by you and they would be very angry to hear how you boxing all time greats belittle their performance and careers by the way you speak about them due to losing those fights.

You really don't deserve exciting fighters who put their all into everything in that ring for your pleasure! Yes, no matter how many of you tell yourselves Rick is all about the money, that doesn't make it true. Like any intelligent person, he wants to earn as much as he can to give his family the best life he can offer but he fights because he loves it and he continued after a period of deep depression where he questioned his own talent and whether he was anywhere near as good as he thought he was, after his first and only loss, he continued for the fans and he fights as he does for the fans. As do so many boxers (unfortunately though not nearly enough).

Every boxer deserves our respect, some more and some less than others but Ricky has never done anything that deserves anything less than the deepest respect. His colleagues give him that, I cannot understand why you can't.

**** me!! Is it my time of the month already!?!:nut:dead
