When did I say he was a slow plodding fighter? Stop putting words in my mouth. Sal reminds me of a young MAB, tenacious and very good at getting on the inside..perhaps even Duran but IMO not as skilled. He was powerful and strong which won him fights BUT JMM will be able to keep his distance and outbox him 7-5. Sure the hard puncher will land but Pac was a pretty hard puncher at 126, perhaps not as hard but just as tenacious and JMM took them pretty well and when he didnt he got up. I feel that if he can deal with pac's speed he can with Sals.

he does get he alot when he opens up inside, almost inviting a brawl
if he stuck to his guns he would be a very difficult mark
with pac its just he southpaw style jmm will always be open for that monster left

In his defense, gangsters love crying to sad songs. Also, JMM vs Sal Samchez would be a hell of a fight, with Sanchez being the favorite, but Marquez can never be underestimated. Marquez KO people who don't normally get KO.

I can see Marquez counter punching Sal Sanchez all night, but Sal was relentless and was a extremely skilled fighter himself.

Fair point, however that was the older MAB who boxed a lot more which troubled JMM more. MAB at his older age was technically one of the best ever mexicans Ive seen, the way he timed his punches, rolled with them and countered was beautiful.

I said you were "alluding" to Sanchez being a "slow plodding fighter" because you have yet to concede that not only in terms of speed, but technical ability, Sanchez is extremely comparable to a Juan Manuel Marquez. Perhaps even the edge would go to the fighter with the much more accomplished resume, and who hit much harder than a fighter who dropped Marquez four times in two fights. My point is, Sanchez is a fast fighter, he does counter punch, and once he hits Marquez with his right hands, how will Juan react? History tell us that he would feel them and probably hit the canvas. Watch Sanchez finish Gomez.

By counterpuncher du mean he moved back inviting people to chase and punch him whilst he countered their punches? Nope, were watching the wrong Sanchez. Sal liked to get on the inside and counter on the inside, his ability to duck and lsip punche son the inside was amazing, he threw punches coming in but I believe he would take a lot of damage moving in and when he's inside, JMM has the combinations to throw then get out of range again. Very tough fight but I feel JMM is not getting enough credit and Sal being slightly overrated. There's a reason JMM is p4p #2, HE IS IN THAT LEAGUE!

In my opinion, Marco Antonio Barrera was the best combination puncher of them all. When he let his hands go, I've seldom seen such a combination of speed and power and fluidity. However, during his time at 130lb, he neglected the body attack, and could not sustain work rate like he could during his Super Bantamweight days. In the Marquez fight, he lost the fight in the last three rounds on my scorecard, and I don't envision this happening with a prime Marco.

In any event, Marquez is very hittable, and when he does get hit by solid punches, he seems to hit the deck. There is no question in my mind that Sanchez would land on Marquez more than once, and I don't envision Marquez being able to stay on his feetwhen the likes of Manny Pacquiao, and Marco Antonio Barrera, who's power never really carried from 122lb, are knocking him down.

OK I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. I just cannot see Sanchez as being that fast, explosive but not fast, at least not as fast as JMM. Technically they were different, JMM's staighter crispier punches got there quicker. There's no proof Sanchez is that much more powerful than Pac at 126..at 126 Pac was a devastating puncher...Morales fought MAB 36 rounds and never dropped him, Pac dropped him in the 3rd. He dropped JMM 3 times in the first. Even if JMM did hit the canvas, high posibility, history also tells us that he gets back up to outbox the guy.
