He is once again going over to another guys home turf, anf giving them a 2 fight option. anyone that said Haye didn't want the fight is a fool.
If I am not mistaken the majority of people who wouldn't declare themselves Pro-Haye or Pro-Wlad were not accusing Haye of ducking. Most people realised that both men wanted the fight but the negoiations were proving difficult to iron out. If it hadn't been signed for this June then it would have eventully be signed for next year.
I tell you, Haye is the loser in this. Haye is a lousy gambler. Haye thought he had a huge payday against K2, but they called his bluff, and now he is forced with only two options now. Either fight other Hws, and Ko them one after the other, and create a fan base and frenzy in the boxing world, or take this cheap offer K2 has given him. The fact he took this K2 offer, tells me he doubts his abiltiy to last in the Hw division. Haye was really hoping for a huge blockbuster payday. But, now he forced to take what he can get now, the Klitschkos didn't fall for it, and now this is the biggest offer he thinks he will ever get probably ever in his Hw career. He should be telling K2 to go jump in the lake, and then go and destroy all the other HWs, and then putting pressure on the Klitschkos. But, he is settling now for what the Klitschkos will only give him now, peanuts. Haye is in trouble...
Haye deserves a lot of credit for taking that fight. I am quite surprised he did not take a couple of tune ups against serious competition but he seems to be quite confident that way.
He isn't taking tune ups because he might get caught again by other HWs, like what happened to him against an old washed up Barrett. Barrett wings his punches, you can see them coming from a mile away, and he still caught Haye. I can't believe Haye settled for this K2 offer. To me, it looks like Haye is now trying to get the most of what he can get. " This is the most pay now, and maybe I might get lucky with a punch," this looks to me like that is what he is doing.
Yeah props to him and that, but maybe we should calm down first till we see how he fights, he may get in there and freeze when it dawns on him just how big and akward wlad is, not saying he will, but this may turn out after all the hype to be a really easy win for wlad (and of course it could go the other way and he has a easy KO win)
I don't think Barrett's punch hurt Haye, if you saw the reply from the side angle it was clear that Haye had already lost his balance when he jumped in and the punch acted more like a push than anything else. However, the ground pound MMA that Barrett followed it up with probably hurt a bit! I do however see your point, Haye can't be putting himself in a position to get caught by potentially big punches, especially not ones by Wlad.
Agreed, I do not think Barett hurt him but Haye was hurt in various other fights. Keep in mind that Wlad is the biggest puncher he has faced...
That could be an explanation, but in my view even if that is the case he still deserves credit for taking on Wlad. He backed up his talk now let's see if he can back it up in the ring which will be much more difficult.
Exactly. When all is said and done, this is the first heavyweight fight that I have been truly excited about in half a decade. That's got to be a good thing.
Haye is a legend, win or lose. The man makes things happen because he is daring to be great. He's a throw back.
I've always thought this to be the case, that why he has tried to "shortcut" his way to a title shot using PR.
Haye said as soon as he started his HW career that he wasnt going to mess about. I dont have a link to any evidence, but i clearly remember an interview where he clearly stated his ambitions. He came straight out and said that he wasnt going to waste anyones time. He wasnt going to go through a load of bums to lead people to believe he is something he isnt. He believed in himself enough to say that he wanted straight in at the top and if he couldnt do it then we would all find out without a long drawn out scenario to find he cant cut it at HW. I also seem to remember him saying that if he got his chance and failed, he would even retire and not do an Audley Harrison and keep trying to convince himself. I think this is commendable and he has stuck to his word. Todays announcement clarifies that. He has got his chance to prove it to himself and the world. Go Haye! He is what the HW division needs right now and i for one hope (and believe) that he KO's scaredy cat Wlad to get us all interested again!
this talk of tune ups and building a fan base ... against who ? Outside of the Klits ( who admittedly i have criticized ) the division is awful. I think he is getting this bang on , I have always thought David is all wrong for Wladimir and while Vitali would be a tough fight , I think we saw signs of slipping in his last fight. Yeah Haye could get sparked at pretty much any moment but then so can Wlad !
