I had forgotten about the Wright fight, because it was a fight I'd like to forget. Yeah, the Wright fight was tougher than the Echols fights. The first Echols fight I thought was actually tougher for Hopkins if you're not including shoulder slams.
:huh I thought Hopkins clearly outclassed Winky and made him look amatuerish at times as Winky simply couldn't get his jab to land.
I misread the thread too but he asked out of the fights Hopkins WON. He lost to Calzaghe so it doesn't count.
I would say Mercado in their first fight in which BHOP came very close to losing and got put on his backside.
I thought Hopkins was winning the 2nd Echols fight handily before he stopped him, but the rough nature of that fight may have made it the hardest fight he won - body slams and all. Most of his wins were rather one-sided performances, so if it's based on who was most competitive in a loss to him, it's probably Winky, who was a bit difficult to figure out at first, but didn't really give Hopkins what I would call a 'hard' fight.
Winky was awkward and made the fight ugly but Mercado in their first fight really roughed BHOP up and put him down a couple times. Mercado was very strong and made BHOP very uncomfortable.
