Not the hardest, but brings a combination of speed/power that I don't think any other top HW contender brings.

Real judgment? You're on the wrong internet for that, much less the wrong forum... ;)
Ken Norton's quip applies to at least 2/3ths of the threads and basic cable pundit shows ever made.

Looks like a good puncher, but a great one? Naww... besides, I doubt he hits anywhere near as hard as guys like Wlad or Tua, who still hits like a concrete cinder block.

Knocking out Monte Barrett doesn't make you the hardest puncher in the division.

We don't know yet so the answer is no. Two fights at heavyweight don't prove jack.

Threads like this make it even easier to hate on David Haye.

No. The hardest puncher today is Wladimir Klitschko.

I'd have to agree, i think Wlad punches harder than Vitali.. more one punch power, where as Vitali seems to have more consistent two handed power/punch output which has more chance of getting the k.o at the late stages of a bout.

No, and he's not close to being the hardest puncher, either.

All of these people hit harder than does Haye:

    Wlad
    Peter
The huge guy Arreola last fought
    Maskaev
Tua (if he's still doing his 'comeback')
Briggs (I think he's still looking for fights)
    Brewster

I'm sure there are others, but that's 7 fighters right there.

What makes Haye's punches seem so hard is that they are fast. The speed does increase the force of the blows, but Haye does not have enough weight behind his shots to match up with some of the truly heavy hitters in the division. He hits hard, very hard at cruiserweight, but as a HW he isn't close to being the biggest puncher.

The hardest one-punch fighter in the sport today is probably

. I may be forgetting some lesser-known HW prospect in that observation, but Wlad's one-punch power, when he chooses to sit down on a punch, is around the same as was Lennox Lewis' right hand (see the Calvin Brock fight for a good example of Wlad's power). If you need any reminder of exactly what Lewis' power looked like at it's best, see Rahman-Lewis II. Perhaps

is the hardest puncher in the sport if he is still able to properly load up one of his left hooks. That was a destructive punch, one of the best ever.

**** no. Haye at Cruiserweight hit ****ing hard. At HW he has good power, not great. Knocking down Barret in a back and forth fight that was ****ing EVEN before the Haye KO does not make him the hardest puncher at HW.

Let's look at Tua and Wlad at their best:

    Tua

    Wlad
    [yt]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/A-75N_8iqB0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/A-75N_8iqB0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/yt]

Tua's destruction of Ruiz was unreal. Wlad's 1-2 to Brock was emphatic, though it took a longer period of time than Tua's 20 seconds or so before Wlad landed that sequence.

Haye hits hard, but not at the level of the two men above. Now, can Tua still hit like that? Maybe not consistently, but you never lose all of your power and I'm sure Tua is good for one or two of those left hooks a fight, even now.
