Lamotta scored an OFFICIAL knockdown over marcel cerdan with a left hook. Its in the record books as cerdan being down in first from left hook. if u look closely lamotta doesnt throw cerdan down, after landing a torrent of blows with cerdan in a fog, lamotta lands a left hook to cerdans liver that hurts cerdan and sends him toppling over to canvas.

Of course PowerPuncher will never give jake lamotta credit, hes way too into that black dynamite ****. lamotta beats the **** out cerdan before the injury. its clear on film.

I hope so too... A lot of people have been suspended from youtube for uploading boxing videos.

I think it's for uploading major recent fights though. I don't do that so I shouldn't have any problems.

Official or not, LaMotta shoved him down. Yeah, Cerdan might have been a bit buzzed and stung from the punches, but it wasn't a shot that knocked him to the floor, from what I saw.

Cerdan look very buzzed to me. even if lamotta didnt land that left to the liver or that "toss" like u claim, cerdan was going down anyway

He was in retreat, but still had his legs under him. Just because I think Duran looked wonderful against Buchanan doesn't mean that he didn't clock him in the balls at the end. Along the same lines, just because Lamotta looked good doesn't mean that he did shove Cerdan to the mat.

Well, that's a nice way to dress it up for your biased self but the fact of the matter is good judgement should be able to decipher the velocity difference between a push and a punch just like we can when Firpo push/punched Dempsey out of the ring.

The only one who did pushing was the typewriter who saved dempsey behind by pushing him back into the ring. JimmyShimmy are you now trying to claim the knockdown out of the ring was not a knockdown? whats next, dempsey was also not floored in the first 5 seconds of the fight when Talentless Firpo nailed him with a right hand? Dempsey was down THREE times in that fight. One in the first 5 seconds from a right sends dempsey to a knee, the 2nd a firpo right nails dempsey dempsey's glove touches, and 3rd firpo knocks dempsey out of the ring and a typewriter has to push dempsey back in and save him from knockout. Deal with it.

Coming from a man who rates Billy Miske and Tommy Gibbons on Joe Jeanette, Harry Wills, and Sam Mcvea level...I could same the same about yourself.

Well a big Cerdan fan like yourself probably will never watch this film again, because you realize the truth was lamotta beat the **** out of cerdan and had him reeling all over the ring in the first round. Cerdan was buzzed out of his mind when he went down in that clip.

I was only having a giggle Suze, no intent there!

The point stands though that Firpo did a special 'pushy-punch' to get Jack out of there, seemingly frustrated for finding himself unable to deliver the coup de grace.

Yeah man, Miske and Gibbons are right with 'em.

I think LaMotta looked great for that fight, Cerdan's injury was unfortunate, but he was an aging fighter also. Some believed he was much better as a Welterweight.

Maybe so, but dempsey was already out on his feet from thetorrents of rights and lefts before, it didnt take a heck of a push to throw him outta that ring.

I just happen to think Lamotta gets no respect for this win, and I hope that will change.

I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Wanna go out for a drink? lol

Yeah but that 'pushy-punch' made him hit his head on the typewriter as well, which you should not have to deal with in boxing!

It will always be hard to get credit when there was an injury involved. It's only fair that he does not get full credit.

    I'm sorry...what!?

Dude, I didn't think it was a kd. I did think it was a hell of a performance from Lamotta. What's the big deal?

To be honest he had no significant achievements as a welterweight.

I tend to think of Cerdan as a middleweight and based on achievements at that weight, not just head to head results, I'd have to say that LaMotta was the greater of the two.

What do people think about the knockdown in LaMotta-Nardico? I believe it was the only time LaMotta was knocked down. Seemed like a bit of a push to me although Nardico was certainly hurting LaMotta.

Nardico was viewed as a big puncher at 175lb by boxing experts at the time described in papers. lamotta was pretty much finished by the time of the fight including a good 15lb above his natural weight class. these were all contributing factors. I have never seen the KD, perhaps you could upload it. I still think Jake Lamotta has the greatest chin of all time.
