He shut out a more or less prime Mundine (whose best wins were a couple fights earlier and a couple fights later than Kessler), in Mundine's hometown, which I think is his best win. Andrade was still extremely raw when he fought Kessler, and while he's still raw, I think Andrade would put up a much better fight against him now.
Andrade is a nice fighter but not the best win of Kessler's career. LA can be hit with every punch in the book. He uses his face to block most of the punches that come his way, and he will get knocked cold if he fights long enough with that style. My top five Kessler wins are 1. Mundine-This guy is super fast and would give anyone problems and MK beat him with ease. 2. Beyer-Better skills than given credit for, not the best but a solid belt holder. 3. Andrade-Good but not great, may snag a belt but not anything more. 4. Lucas-He was past his prime when they fought but still a good fighter. 5. Sartison-Tough guy with a good record, pushed MK to the limit.
Other than Sartison, all of the guys above were Ring top 10 when he fought them. In fact, Andrade was the lowest ranked of that bunch. Beyer was Ring mag #3 when he beat him.
Kessler has a solid yet unspectacular record, you are correct but as TFFP said about the Andrade fight, it wasnt the win but the manner. And this has been true for every fight except the Calzaghe fight. Kessler hardly loses a round.
Easily Andrade. Beyer and especially Mundine are overrated. Beyer was just a paper champ and at best a Euro level fighter and Mundine has never beat anyone at the top level ecept a shot Echols.
Agreed the division was weak back then. SMW could be a hot division soon with Bika, Bute, Froch, Kessler, Taylor, Abraham moving up, Andrade, A.Green and Pascal.
the fact that all Kessler opponents were top 10 ranked...should tell u how weak the division was at the time.... maybe Froch and Taylor might add some class

Andrade admitted himself, that the Kessler fight came much too soon for him. It was about 3 years ago now and Andrade had the engine and willpower, but not the armoury. It would be much closer now.
