In the two fights he lost I thought that Byrd won about two rounds before Vitali retired with his shoulder. In the Lewis fight I thought that Lennox won two rounds before the fight was stopped. And I thought that Corrie Sanders won the first round of their fight. Other than that, I have trouble remembering many other rounds that this guy has lost in his career.

There was a thread about this not long ago - someone had claimed to know the card results (i.e. the rounds he had officially lost). It wasn't many. Alot give Gomez the first round, too.

But, yeah, the dude has great numbers - the rounds lost thing and his ko% are out of this world. He's always been prepared and focussed. The problem, of course, is who it has come against. Not his fault he's in a weak era, but the fact remains that he's amassed these numbers against average fighters (Lewis the exception, of course).

I do admire him for his consistency and focus, though. If the resume is pedestrian, those things aren't.

I think he may have lost 7 or 8 rounds in his whole career. Vitali is underrated mainly for that fact that if it wasnt for some kind of phyiscal injury he could be undefeated right now with Chris Byrd and Lennox Lewis added to his resume.

even fighting the comp he's fought to only lose 7 or 8 ..maybe 10 rounds out of 40 or so fights ..is simply breath taking almost .. it's almost like looking across the ring at a real life ivan drago type fighter.. just unlimited everything ..

i guess lewis doing what he did at his age really showed his greatness !

I gave Sanders the first round. That was a great round too.

Timo Hoffman was competetive at times during their fight busting Vitali's face. 1 judge gave him 1 round.
Vaugn Bean might have steal a round. He was tricky.

Out of 164, probably around 10%, so I'd say around 15 or 16.

There's probably a few he lost early in his career that aren't known.

I think for certain, he lost 2 against Lewis, 2 against Byrd, 1 against Sanders, 1 against Gomez, 1 against Hide. I reckon like Chilli said Vaughn Bean & Timo Hoffman took a round a piece. Officially, he lost one against Sam Peter - although clearly he dominated every round.

Vitali beat the crap out of Hoffman, it was his first fight since his shoulder surgery and his still made it a mismatch.

No,he didnt. Hide didnt connect with any telling punch at all.

Timo Hoffman probably one round ,and so did Chris Byrd.
Of course Lewis also won 1 or 2 rounds in his encounter with Vitaly.

Hoffman was nothing more than a living punching bag,but I was quite suprised that he was somehow able to go the full route of 12 rounds with Vitaly.

He has not lost a single round decisively - but there are a few rounds that could be given aganst him - such as 2 to Lewis and 1 to Hide.
