I think this could be the most interesting TFFP "Vote, Analyze, Discuss" thread yet.

As I see it this is a proper 50/50, regardless of what the bookies think.

I think these styles will clash very well indeed.

What do we make of Winky's Quotes?

Willaims points/ late KO. Wright is semi-retired and is going to have his work cut out closing the distance.

    Interesting Gaz :think

When you say "close the distance", presumably you think Williams' little extra reach and speed is going to be crucial? As opposed to Winky's more technically correct jab that is a proven fight winner?

Yep, Wrights been an amazing fighter with a great counterpunching style but his movement has never been that great (not that bad though, "economical" might be the right word), I think that Willaims will be able to dictate where, and a what range, the exchanges occur and use his reach and speed to get the better of them without needing to leave himself open to Wrights counterpunching.

Obvously Winkys age and recent inactivity also don't help his cause.

Well I agree with the last part. The main reason I've favoured Williams is his youth, activity and freshness as opposed to a guy thats been sitting around and was last seen ballooning upto light heavy to fight Hopkins. That does not bode well against a guy with work-rate.

The one thing I am concerned about is say Wright does come into this fight surprisingly sharp and gets his trademark jab going, it IS a better, more accurate jab than Williams. And Williams is a fighter that likes to get things going off his jab, that fell apart against Quintana as he circled well making Williams fall short, and took advantage of Williams when he lunged in, nailing him every time with straight lefts.

If Winky can dictate proceedings with his jab then I can see him frustrating Williams and taking advantage of his errors.

I'm giving Williams a "freebie" for the Quintanta, just a bad day at the office.

I just got this funny feeling Winky Wright will give us another defensive masterpiece and win a solid ud.

What, 12 rounds of "bad times at the office"?

To me it hinted at more of a lack of adaptability and lack of a brain if Plan A is not working because he fell for the same moves every time for 36 minutes. That's the reason I would worry for Williams if Winky's jab dictates things here as he'd then become the sitting duck he was against Quintana for counterpunches.

Still, I am going to take Williams as the odds tell me Winky is probably not going to be what he was even at a more comfortable weight and against a lesser fighter than Hopkins, Williams probably is going to be too active and sharp.

Either way I'm betting on the over!

    And vote..for christ sake!

The Brit Forum is on a 100% record. I think we have also got every single method of victory correct except the Urango fight, also.

I'm still not sold on Williams but I think he beats Winky.

Winky's had a long layoff and is coming back against a guy who's a physical freak and throws a 100 punches a round. Winky is something like 37 now? The layoff and Williams' activity will be too much for him.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, fighters just don't perform. They arn't machines, maybe the Quintanta fight does show deficencies but until Willaims does it again I'm reserving judgement.

He may well **** up against Winky but (IMHO) stylistcially at least the fight is Williams' to lose.

I hear ya, but then I expect some signs from top fighters (and Williams is getting towards this category) that they can think on their feet and make changes, especially when we're talking about Quintana. I don't think Paul changed anything up during the course of that fight. He loved eating the left hands, falling in, not closing him down before throwing punches.

This fight is intriguing as they both have things going for them.

Williams has youth, regular fights lately, speed of foot and maybe hand at this point, work-rate certainly.

Wright has that experience, he's fought at middle and higher against better opponents, he has the better technique.

    Bring it on :good
