LOL, I thought the same thing, but would ask for how long would the ban be for? I'm only kidding of course!

April 1st was some days ago so saying if saying Jones would beat Louis is a funny comment its five days too late!

Louis would test Jones' chin like its never been tested before & that chin would fail greatly!

One look at Louis' punching technique on film displays very modern punching technique. He puts his punches together a lot better than most contemporary heavyweights and cruiserweights, too. And he faced and defeated a fighter with similar hand and foot speed in Billy Conn, who was at least as durable as Jones was, if not more so.

Louis not only had hand speed that was excellent, he worked off the jab and would be facing a fighter who tended to rely more upon his athleticism and speed, than pure technique. Plus, he's facing someone who is not only fast and technical, but hits damned hard. Bad combo, regardless of the era.

There are a lot of greats that Jones could beat. Louis ain't one of them. Louis wins.

Walcott was extremely skilled. Far more so than Ruiz.

Little 166 pound Billy Conn would chew Glass Jaw Roy Jones up and spit him out.

In fairness to Roy, I think he and Conn make an interesting match, because Conn wasn't a huge puncher, but his counter-punching style sure would cause RJJ trouble

    Yes :good

But I DO think Ruiz was pretty skilled; he was a skilled boxer who just held.. a lot. Pre-Tua is was more obvious how good he was. THe clinching didn't obscure his skills so much.

Joe Louis would have knocked out John Ruiz in 1 round. He would have gone to clinch Louis and then found himself staring at the lights as Louis gave himself room and threw one of those perfectly balanced combo's and good night.

I imagine Roy showboating and Louis doing a Peden/Campbell with more nuclear like power.

You know what, with Roy Jones' quickness, and powerful straight right that surprises you, and added Joe Louis's "mediocre" chin, what you just said wouldn't surprise me.

But, with Joe Louis' power and size, and Roy's chin, he could destroy Roy Jones in a round.

It would make for a great fight to watch.

joe louis had a reputation for his crushing power, and combination punching. even though the guy is undersized for a heavy weight nowadays, i'm pretty sure he's still naturally bigger than rjj. all of this equates to rjj getting KO'd cold.

    Why is this a debate?

    Stop this madness.

Louis hits harder than Ruiz. Louis has faster hands than Ruiz. Louis has better skills than Ruiz. Louis is Louis. Jones was never a heavyweight without roids. Jones is smaller than Louis, who is better than Ruiz.

The Joe Louis who destroyed Max Schmeling kills Jones. Louis KO'd Max Baer who has a better chin than Jones (Joe was the first man to drop him). Braddock (never been down before Louis KO'd him).

Yes Jones would be running and potshotting but sooner or later he gets KO'd rather like Louis v Walcott II.
