Scar, I think your being a bit harsh on the kid, Khan trained for a 2 eyed MAB its just unlucky that the cut happened and ****ed up the fight. I think Khan would of beaten MAB without the cut anyway, his speed, reach, gameplan was too much for old MAB. Remember only 2 fights before Khan got sparked out in under 1min, and at the young age of 22 he was fighting a ring legend. David Diaz is a former WBC world champion and is not over the hill he lost to Pacman not too long ago, and is a good step up for Khan i feel.
hmm says... I think the matchup will be a good test for khan but not anything spectacular like what people were making after the Barrera fight. Diaz is well round but his age and lack of speed should be taken into consideration. Dude has a lot of heart so I'm not counting him out...so he may look to possibly win on points. However, if Khan can hang with Pac, then I'm going with Khan with the better chances...speed kills
David Diaz knocked out Santa Cruz so he can definitely knock out Khan. But I see Khan's speed beating Diaz against the ropes, nowhere near as emphatic a stoppage as Pac administered, but a TKO nonetheless.
i think he would have beat barrera comfortably without the cut. as far as the calzaghe route, he seems to be stepping up the comp at a respectable, steady rate now. everyone was writing off his chances before the barrera fight saying it was too much too soon.
Not being harsh at all, I support Khan but when I see ridiculous things I'll point them out. First thing is this, MAB fight should have ended in the first round with a NC. What was ridiculous is seeing MAB hitting the corner after the first round with NO doctor checking on the cut, you know there's an issue when the COMMENTATORS made it clear after the first round that it's impossible to fix a cut like that but the doctor doesn't show up. Of course Khan can't be blamed on that one, he just did what he had to do but this plays a major role with the fight. MAB was already old and getting a cut like that is like ruining his chances completely, if anything I believe MAB deserved something better than what he got, which was a circus. One thing to keep in note is this, MAB seemed to land only two solid punches and both of them got Khan to buckle, not very good signs at all. Diaz is NOT a step up and not even close to it. There was a time when I backed up Khan for taking on the fighters that he did because he was new but now years passed and he has over 20 fights, why Diaz?, what's the point of fighting Diaz who is also coming off another KO loss?, it's not a step up and not even close. I thought they had a championship fight in planned but looks like they don't, it's okay to protect Khan a bit especially after the KO he got but this is taking it too far. It's like they're indirectly telling the public that they're going to protect him as much as they can. A rematch with Prescott would have been a FAR better choice and a choice that would prove he's serious. If not that then a title fight as Warren promised or someone actually in the top 10.
Diaz coming off a KO loss is not stepping up, maybe in Khan's standards it's a step up but anyone would tell you it's not. The real step ups are what they promised before his fight with Barrera regarding his future plans, this is what they promised. 1) Fight a legitimate title holder(WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO) 2) Fight a top 10 fighter 3) Rematch with Prescott One of those three is what they promised and they're completely ignoring it now.
diaz coming off a ko loss to the p4p #1 is not the same thing as coming off a ko loss to an ordinary fighter. this fight against diaz would be his 22 fight and is a good level for his next fight and would cement his place in the top 10, where he can then look at another step up. look at jeff lacey to see what happens when you rush things too quickly.
Another problem with Khan now is that he has just beat a Legend and has very few places to go. Diaz would be a good match up for him but I think it's too soon. A good route for him would have been, around the 20-25 fight mark (NOW) to be going to clean up domestically and on the European front. He's avoided these because of the high risk so now he has nowhere to go. If he steps up he gets dispatched because he doesn't have enough experience to get in with the top guys and if he steps down everyone jumps on his back. I feel a bit sorry for him because he's been mis-managed and now he will step up and ultimately get found out
I agree the MAB fight should of been called a NC after the first round that cut was crazy, but you see 20,000 packed crowd and PPV pressure had something to with the Doc not having a look till the 4th round, this maybe what you get coming over and fighting in home town in a frankwarren fight. From what I am hearing Khan WILL have a title shot late 2009 after this next fight, Roach said after the MAB he needs 1 more fight then he is ready, Frank has also said he will get a title shot end of this year. Lets see if it happens. I think maybe for the by then vacant WBO title where Khan is now ranked No.1, or highrisk but in my view winnable Valero for the WBC title.

:rofl easy fight for Khan, would even put money on it. after watching diaz get owned by pac, think it will go pretty much the same way... obviously they are different fighters with different style's but it doesnt look like diaz can handle speed. Frank Warren will make the fight sound alot better than it is though and hype Diaz up to be a "class a fighter who came close to beating the current p4p champ" when we all know he didnt come close.
