Cooper over Foley deserves a mention (although it is clearly not the best), as it showed for the first time since Farr we had a legitimate top 10 Heavyweight, and not just one put in there, because he was European Champion.
I'd say Honeyghan over Curry. Curry was Undisputed WW champ and undefeated at the time and Lloyd made him quit.
The Gifted One........Kirkland Laing's win over Duran also deserves a mention Ring Magazine's upset of the year 82..................just a shame he went MIA for around a year after!!
I'd have to say Turpin's upset of Robinson. Say what you will about Robinson's shoddy preperation for the bout, Turpin still beat arguably the best fighter of all time, and put in a great effort in the rematch against a more focused SRR until a fateful headbutt brought about the KO.
He (Raggamuffin man) beat the undisputed, undefeated, welterweight champion who was pound for pound number 1 at the time away from home. (me thinks) Whether he was an accident waiting to happen is another thing. (Curry) Benn was really up against it in his fight against the GMAN. Although it was in England and Gerald was moving up in weight to fight Benn. Hatton hugged and roughed up Tsyzu in his hometown with every possible advantage he could have had. Tsyzu was near the end of the line also. Donno about the rest.
One of my all time favourite fights. Great performance by John in an extremely hostile environment. Great win, mad even better due to the fact that he was down in the first.
