Roach is not a Steward caliber, but he is good. Mayweather Sr. is the most overrated guy.

I was thinking it was a rhetorical question but prove it wrong if you dare.

Whats to overrate anyways?! i think he's doing a good job training manny, and a bad job promoting a fight. If there is anything to overrate about Freddy, is his marketing strategy, and the way he does interviews, which i cant understand. But he's not a marketing specialist, he's a trainer.

Cannot get over this article ! Roach is a superb trainer who, as someone has already stated has took 17 fighters to a world title. All the while he does this whilst suffering from Parkinsons. The man just breathes boxing and has helped shaped the sport dramatically over the last 15 or so years. He even lives in a shitty apartment next to his gym. Doesn't live the 'celebrity' lifestyle a'la Floyd Snr. My only problem with Roach is that sometimes he does get too mouthy. I wouldn't have a problem with that if he did it all the time but he doesn't. When he had De La Hoya against Mayweather. Roger, Jeff and Floyd ripped the **** out of Freddie and Oscar and he never said anything to retaliate. Yet when he had Pac against Oscar he was mouthing off left right and centre. He knew Oscar was a nice man who doesn't really get into all that verbal stuff yet he ripped into him daily. Shame he din't have the balls to do that to Roger Mayweather. Anyway still a superb trainer and lightyears ahead of Floyd Senior IMO

The fighter that will define how great Roach is as a trainer will be Amir Khan. Everyone knows Khan can't take a punch and is knockout waiting to happen but imagine if Roach got Khan all the way to undisputed no.1 of the lightweights or junior welterweight? Khan's technique before Roach started with him was shocking, great punch variety & speed but practically everything else was missing.

    Stop talking ****.

Pacquiao has noticeably improved. I don't know what fights you've been watching because the difference between now and 5 or so years ago is evident.

The guy has MS and he's one of the best boxing trainers in the world. I think that deserves an unreserved amount of credit.

erm. What part of this quote from Freddie Roach is cocky?

“I have 23 world champions today. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for them. Give the fighters credit. Trainers are over-rated, believe me. We guide our fighters in the right direction but it’s up to them to implement the game plan. It’s the same with me, Manny makes me look good.”

So, not only is he being far from cocky, he agrees trainers are over-rated.

Maybe you should get your facts straight next time before you post.:hi:
