My right elbow is messed up basically. I can rarley throw a full power right hand without my forearm wanting to take off. I've taken weeks off, to no avail. Any advice?
Ok, so your elbow is 'messed up' and your forearm wants to 'take off'? Is this the description that you would give to a doctor? Do you expect someone to be able to give you a clear diagnosis based on the above information? When did the pain start, what were you doing when the pain first started, any history of injuries, have you been warming up properly, have you been punching with proper form etc? There are so many variables to take into account before giving you any advice, you need to be a whole lot more forthcoming and clear if you want advice regarding a specific injury. One more thing - go see a doctor!
Lol, thanks doc. Didn't know so many people are unfamiliar with metaphors. To answer your questions, yes, I always warm up properly Been boxing for a few years now, so I guess I know how to punch GP's are not specialised for sports injuries, so that won't do any good I do not have a history of injuries Got a diagnosis?
Ok, now we are getting somewhere! Where exactly is the pain? What type of pain, sharp or a dull ache? Are there any particular movements that aggravate it, aside from throwing a right hand?
Ok, is the pain in the inner side of the elbow or the outside? Any swelling on your elbow? Has the range of motion decreased in your elbow recently? Any pain in your forearm or fingers? How old are you? You have already said that you have boxed for a while, what else do you do? Any other sports, or manual work - anything repetetive on the elbow basically?
Health Shop You wont notice its working, till you stop using. Similar to Vits It works, i spent a few hundred on all kinds of one off therapists etc Glucosamine worked ! ! ! Its cheap, even the good stuff, so no loss. :good
I also had a fat mama type therapist have me strip down and did some obscenely looking stretches for her...then she spooned me ! Yes she did, she worked on some back plates, which strangely seemed to "fix" this elbow. This i understand etc..........whether it was the gluco or her, i dont Gluco helps :deal
Glucosamine 'can' help, depending on what the condition is; however, if it is something like nerve entrapment, glucosamine will have no effect. Before prescribing a cure, an accurate diagnosis must be made.
Tell me when a doctor has asked this much or gives a ****, give the guy a break. The more you bring to the table with a doctor, rarely you will find the benefits.
Typical doctors advice: "Take two months off and swallow these pain killers" Then he gets irritated when you tell him your goal is to get back in the gym asap.
It's worthwhile exploring things fully, failure to do so can mean that you lose valuable time in prescribing a cure for the wrong diagnosis. I am asking curly for specific symptoms so I can help him to the best of my ability. If he doesn't give a clear picture, then I can't give a clear, informed answer - my aim is simply to help the guy so he can continue to train without being hindered by this injury. I can't speak for all doctors, but it is clear that you haven't had as much success with your doctor as I have had with mine. If I go to my doctor, I want to give him the best possible chance to help me, and that means giving him a clear description of my symptoms. The less clear that you are when describing symptoms, the less likey you are to have an accurate diagnosis and cure. I cannot stress enough the importance of effective communication between a patient and doctor, or even one person asking another for advice on a forum. As things stand, I have narrowed it down to one of six or so possible causes, and with more information, I might be able to narrow it down further, hence my questioning. My questions aren't meant to be condescending, or to make me come across like a dick (which i can do at times!!), they are with the sole aim of trying to help curly, nothing more.
