Has anyone else been thinking about this? I know Khan has talked about it in the past, but todays events have reminded me of it. I for one think that it would never happen, but should Hatton lose to Pacman and Khan win the WBA light-welter title.....Hatton v Khan could then be a convenient money spinner in the UK for all concerned. Hatton will beat Pacman (i feel) so would have bigger fish to fry....but i feel i raise an intriguing point....... I would actually like to see Hatton spank Khan.....should all go belly up on 2nd May!
Of course. This is Warren's master plan. Hatton said he has a few more fights and it's over. Team Hatton have been looking for a Wembley superfight for years. So: A) Hatton beats Pac, probably goes after the Mayweather rematch, which is 50/50 at that point, maybe he fights JMM or the PacMan rematch. There's still about 33% chance of a Khan fight since Hatton-Khan would EASILY outdo the Mayweather and Pacquiao PPV numbers, especially fighting at 11PM, not 4AM, and imagine 90.000 fans paying ₤200 minimum. HUGE money. B) Hatton loses, no titles anymore, Floyd rematch not going to happen, maybe JMM, but Team Marquez would look for either Pac or Floyd. At lest 50% chance of Hatton-Khan happening, especially if Amir picks up a world title. And if not in 2009, Khan, if he wins vs. Kotelnik, which is a VERY tough fight, can still fight Hatton in early 2010. I think Warren realizes they have to go right after Hatton therefore immediately stepping up to 140.
unless khan is desperate for money and this is his last stop before holding out a sign on the side of the road he should not consider this. he would be doing his chicken dance all over the ring ala the prescott fight. would be brave of him...but not smart
this might turn out like chavez sr vs delahoya. similarities if the fight happened. delahoya was hated by mexicans because he wasn't man enough. khan is hated by most white english guys because of race or personality. both went to the olympics and did very well. both had lightning hand speed. delahoya beating chavez sr didn't help him, he thought mexican people would have more respect for him, in the end they just hated him even more. if khan does the same to hatton it could have the same affect. and i'm not comparing hatton with chavez sr, because they aint in the same league, as pacquiao will show on may 2nd.
Why do people ALWAYS bring up race when talking about Amir Khan... its ****ing stupid.. you do know he's not the first Asian to box.. You may have heard of a guy called prince Naz. Black people called Eubank and Benn. No one gives a flying **** about his race. And you can't mention JCC in the same sentace as Hatton. Chavez's padded record speaks for itself. Over 70 cab drivers, very impressive.
Hatton is the worst possible match ever for Khan. I can't see this changing anytime soon, Hatton would destroy him.
I think Khan would only do this fight if things are going crap. I mean by this he's lost a couple more fights and he wants out of boxing with a payday. Unless Hatton gets massively shot in a couple of years, he isn't winning.
Blue 145, Naz was from Yemen and isnt asian. just coz his skin is brown doesnt mean he is asian. Also who has Hatton really beaten to be mentioned in the same breath as JCC
Its all Asia. I was just messing with the JCC comment, hes a great fighter just has 60+ cab drivers to build up a resume that looks more impressive than it is. And the Sweet Pea draw hurts me to this day lol.
Race is a stupid thing to bring up, most of Britains best fighters are non-white; lets see here: David Haye - undisputed cruiserweight champion Lennox Lewis - undisputed, ATG, HOFer Herbie Hide - former Heavyweight world champion Johnny Nelson - former world cruiserweight champion Carl Thompson - the same as above John Conteh - world light heavyweight champion Dennis Andries - the same as above Nigel Benn - world super middlewight champion Chris Eubank - 2 weight world champion Maurice Hope - world Light middlewieght champion Lloyd Honeyghan - world welterwight champion Junior Witter - World Lightwelter champion Nassem Hamed - needs no introduction If you factor race into this sport, I think you will find British boxing owes alot more to ethnic minorities than other nations
