It's his 21st, it says Bernard Hopkins 19-1 on the video. Who does that stokes think he is with that dancing, Nazeem ****ing Hamed?

Bernard's hair looks strange from what we're used to seeing, look at those stick figure legs aswell. Knockout was a bit soft, he was just working away with the left hand with stiff shots and the guy caved in.

Shows the variety to Hopkins game and how he adapted over the years. This is the Hopkins of old, such as from the Glen Johnson fight, he was very aggressive then, proof that he turned back the years in the Pavlik fight, in that fight he brough back his old aggressive self.

yes Manny Steward said he would go back to his old Philly style...he did that but only in spurts...Pavlik would been destroyed with this version.

Thanks for bringing this up. Alot of people have a false impression of Hopkins being a boring fighter but that's not the case Hopkins was monster back then he didn't earn that nickname for nothing. His KO of Lipsey is still one of my favorites...just brutal.

They got something wrong here. The tale of the tape said Hopkins was 25, but he was 25 in 1990. The commentators mentioned Toney/McCallum the next day which occured in late 1991. So Hopkins was 26 here and not 25. No big deal. Actually he was almost 27 a month later.

when everyone says hopkins was green when he foughtJones is BS...

I agree Hopkins was a better defensive boxer later on...but he was far superior offensively.

I remember Jones getting hit plenty with right hands in theit fight.

The problem with JONES Hopkins fight was it wasnt a headline event. It was unfortunate it ws an undercard fight to BOWE HOLYFIELD.

Can you imagine a Middleweight championship now being an undercard fight?

Hopkins is a guy who got better as he got experienced. Jones was the better fighter when he was young, but Hopkins overtook Jones about 2000. What I mean is that is when he would have started to beat Jones.

considering Jones beat Hopkin with one hand...he didnt throw the right all night (he broke it prior to the fight)

    Jones is something else.

It's completely hypothetical because Calzaghe was also a heavy-handed puncher in his younger days. I would argue that both Hopkins and Calzaghe have shown greater boxing skills in their later fights, than earlier in their careers.

You beat me to it. most of these posters never saw calz in 2000 or before. He had better dig, but less stellar moves. As did hops. Joe
would've always beaten nard. Bernie knew it too deep down inside.
that's why he priced himself out of a done deal against calz back in
    2001.

2001 Hopkins stops Calzaghe. The 43yr. old just beat Calzaghe.
