Nobody's talking about Pac here, buddy. Why do you always keep bringing him up in threads he's not supposed to be in. You cling to him more than *******s do, didn't you notice that? Just stick to the topic will ya? Juan is still a very good fighter for me. The fact that he gave JMM absolute hell is what makes him very good. Its funny how alot people weren't giving him credit before the fight and say that JMM will own him. Then Juan Diaz shows up and gave JMM a run for his money, and STILL people don't give him props.
I thought Diaz would win 3 rounds in the first half of the fight and get completely owned in the second half of the fight, and lose a decision. Instead he won 3 rounds in the first half and got ktfo in the second half
i expected more from juan diaz in the katsidis fight. but he just won that fight via SD. his win vs. julio diaz also has lost its luster. julio diaz was KO'd by reyes (who?) in 5 rounds.
I didn't think it was that close... anyway, that could be a sign that Juanito just lacks a little bit of toughness. When things have gotten rough in there for him and he's gotten bruised and cut up, he can't hang. Something like that happend earlier in his career too where he barely got away with a controversial decison. He might not know how to deal with, and adjust to things from a mental standpoint.
He's very good, he's not the hardest hitter, but he works best when he's able to get inside and work.
He won 4 rounds in my scorecards to 4 rounds for Marquez. And even if its 3 rounds, to win that amount of rounds in a 9 round bout is hardly the PWNZORRS!!!! that everyone was making it out to be, don't you think? Not to mention the way he really troubled JMM. If the fight continued on to the 12th, I believe Juan could've won atleast 1 more round. Is that something of a schooling from JMM?
Though he did put up a good fight, he was inevitably outclassed. JMM is a pretty slow starter himself so baby bull's high output definately troubled him a little not to mention JMM seems to be kind of open for the left hook (a good left hook)and he can be outjabbed.
I'd rate Diaz stronger in the intangibles department than I would his tangible skillset as a boxer - which is in fact quite excellent. He does alot of things well, most of which includes his excellent combination and counter punching, and all the things that entails; including timing, balance, positioning, sense of distance, ect. But his genuine lack of technical precision has always been a weakness of his that I felt would be exploited by the elite - which it has. He moves at blurring speed for a man with his disposition, but when you slow down the tape you can see how much he just wings punches and wastes shots. He's what you call a "guess hitter." And he's not quite enough of a tank to play his own game of 'deep water.' He's the one that's been getting drowned lately. Ring IQ? There's alot of questions there..
Very good fighter. he just happened to run into a great fighter in JMM. Hes still young and hopefully he can bounce back and be a top lightweight.
He's a good but not great fighter (but I love his work rate!). He lacks a lot of power and I believe he'll never be great or even legendary because of that. He going to have trouble with guys who can box and bring pop with their punches. I'd say he's always going to be a top contender but will struggle against the very best.
Almost everybody has a weakness to a certain punch man. Nobody's perfect. And for Diaz to capitalize on the left hand and the jabbing only speaks on how good he really is rather than how weak JMM is to those punches. I mean, vulnerable or not, its still pretty hard for anybody to fully capitalize on JMM's weaknesses. JMM is that great. And that's why Diaz really impressed me because he was pretty effective with it. As for the slow starter stuff. That's a good point. But keep in mind that even the much improved Pac didn't trouble JMM in the early rounds of their 2nd fight as nearly as Diaz did.
