Hatton's good, damn good . He can beat most contenders at or around 140. He comes to fight, everytime. Yes, he's not at the level of Mayweather or Pacquio (he will lose to Manny by TKO), but not many fighters are. Is he beloved? Yes. Is he overrated? Maybe only by his most delusional fans. I for one have been entertained by him many times, and am glad he's around.

If you go around saying that Hatton is a poor fighter and that being the linear champ means ****, then don't be surprised if people question your boxing knowledge.

You are obviously a Ricky Hatton hater, and have an axe to grind. Bringing up all this **** that has been gone over again and again a million times already.

I mean, you say Tszyu was old, or you could say that going into the fight with Hatton, Tszyu had just destroyed Shabra Mitchell, the NO 1 contender, inside a round. It's all about perspective, something which you clearly lack.

He just dosent train year round. He could be better. He could hit harder. He could be faster. but he just have to stay out the bar. and he can fight in other classes. PacMan is gifted and I dont think he trains all year round but I think he trains more then Hatton does on off season. Pac Man stays in shape longer and this why i think pac man will win.

But hatton is not overated he just overates himself more then his fans rate him if he thinks that he dosent have to train all year round just like the other fighters you mentioned. Floyd SR will be good for him. I dont know if he can save him now for this fight but down the line he will train all year round

    1. Shane not the same at 154 as he is at 147. Same thing with Ricky from 140 to 147 (though he did win a belt at ww).

    2. Wright not able to beat Taylor, Hopkins, Williams (you'll see) at bigger weights, just like Hatton could not defeat PBF (who was #1 p4p at the time).

    3. Kostya #3 p4p in the world when Ricky stopped him and was just coming off a KO of Sharmba Mitchell. All the experts picked Kostya to win.

    4. Castillo less than 2 years removed from his KO of Diego Corrales when he was KO'd by Hatton. All the experts picked Castillo to win.

    5. Don't forget that Shane is 7 years older than Ricky. Hatton still has fights with Cotto, Bradley, Marquez and even a PBF rematch on the horizon if he beats Pacman (or even if he losses for that matter).

    6. Hatton fought 4 future HOFers, three top 3 p4pers and 2 #1 p4pers over the last few years.

But you're getting into hypotheticals here, saying that if he moves up there are 6 fighters who would beat Hatton. That is your opinion, and you're entitled to it. I prefer to judge fighters on what they have actually done, rather than what I think would happen, should certain circumstances occur.

I don't think its inevtiable that someone like Berto would beat Hatton, because Hatton has already beaten a lot better fighters than Andre Berto. And as I already said, at 147 Hatton is unproven either way. He might be able to hold his own against the elite, he might not. But his achivements at 140 are solid, and they are what we should judge him on.

Hatton at 140 is record is second to none, yes he got a leathering of floyd, but that doesn't make him a bad fighter. If hatton does win i just hope people don't start saying oh pac shouldn't be fighting at 140 and give hatton is due.

    1-from 135 to 154 thats 19 pounds not seven

2-Wright arguably beat Taylor and gave Hopkins hell and he didnt move back down to 154 after that

3-Tzyu was fighting once a year leading to the Hatton fight, yes he did beat Mitchell but Mitchell was in his mid thirties and past his best,he didnt have the hand and footspeed he used to have and that was what made him efective. still i think Tzyu was a good win for Hatton but that wasnt prime Tzyu.

4-cmon everyone could see that castillo wasnt the same fighter he used to be

5-yes Hatton still has time but i dont think he beats pac.

6-yea he fought them but he lost to Mayweather, beat tzyua and Castillo but you alrady know what i think about those wins, and has a fight next with Pac wich remains to be seen if he wins or not.

you havent brought anything to the tabble other than Hatton is linear at 140 and he won a paper title against a WW contender.

thats weak but thats expected from a guy like you.

The only people overrating him are his super hardcore manc fans who seem to think he's the second coming, but most of them don't follow boxing outside of Hatton anyway.

Most others will say, he's a very good fighter, which he is, he's the best in his division, which he is, he struggles with even a one division move, which is true, so I don't think anyone is overrating him or underrating him.

As for his record, it's fine, not spectacular but you can pick holes in almost everyones resume if you want too. Bernard Hopkins, living legend to some, according to others he got his arse kicked by Roy Jones, Racked up 20 middleweight defences agaisnt mostly average fighters, no better than what Hattons fought really, spinkled with big wins against guys fighting way out of their best weight divisions (Trinidad,DLH,Wright,Pavlik).
You can look at just about any glass half full if you want to.

Either way, for this coming fight it doesn't matter who's OMGP4P!!!1 #1, as it's taking place at 140 which I think everyone can agree is the place where Hatton is truely world class.
