Nah, I don't disagree, because I've not see enough of McGuigan to really comment, was just curious to see why you thought McGuigan would have been Hamed's best win. I'm feeling a bit silly now actually, because I've only seen a few dodgy highlight reels and had a quick glance at his box rec and wiki page, yet I've dismissed McGuigan's chances out of hand - which is obviously a mistake.

Would just add though, I do think Bungu is underrated (yeah, I know) both talent and achivement wise. Bungu was a formidable test for Hamed, and a past prime Hamed absolutely smashed hiim.

Naz ducked JMM. JMM would have destroyed him.

    How original.

When Naz was in his prime, JMM was fighting for NABO titles.

JMM didn't win a world title until two years after Hamed had retired.

    They are different eras.

Anyone got the full details behind the McGuigan V Cruz fight. I have been told Barry was stitched up for the fight.

McGuigan's legacy suffers irreparable damage for not facing Azumah Nelson and perhaps to lesser degree Esparagoza.Like him or not Naz was the best featherweight in the world for several years taking on all the contenders and other world champions beating them handily. McGuigan was never the best featherweight in the world. He won the WBA belt but was never the best. Ultimately Naz was beaten by the all time great Marco Antonio Barrera 3 weight world champion. Even with Naz there is probably some dissapointment that he retired to early but what is without doubt is that for 5 and half years he was the best featherweight in the world and his performances proved it.Correct me if I am wrong but I don't recall Barry McGuigan defeating another great fighter or champion at the peak of their perfornance the way Starling defeated Honeyghan, the Honeyghan destroyed the great Don Curry, the Azumah Nelson took care of Mario "Azabache" Martinez and Villasana twice and Aussie legend "thunder from down under" Fenech. Popularity does equal greatness.I find it difficult to envisage McGuigan beating Naz. I never understood where Naz's power came from?

We're not arguing who had the better career, thats Naz by a mile!
Just a simple head to head matchup. I favour Naz but think it'd be a very tough fight for him.

35 people say Hamed would win.

I think Hamed would win a close fight but people are saying that he would easily beat barry which i doubt very much.

Barry had exceptionally long arms, and as a pressure fighter would have forced Naz to engage for as long as the fight lasted. McGuigans chin was not that great either, Renard had him down twice i recall, La Porte hurt him badly in the final round, so badly Mickey Duff rang the bell himself at the 1m50 mark. Barry also struggled with movers, McDonnell and Taylor to name 2. I can't see Naz blowing him away as some do here, but i can see him cutting him up, confusing him and scoring knockdowns leading to a stoppage around the 10th. Steve Cruz also did not stop barry he beat him on points.

I don't think its being disrespectful to ol' bazza, its not that McGuigan was a bad fighter or anything close, just Hamed was that good, and many people believe that McGuigan simply wasn't on the same level.

It is conceivable amongst all the probabilities that it could be tough contest but then again another genuine possibility is Hamed blowing out McGuigan. I just don't think Barry's come foward aggresively style would work againt real power punchers like Nelson and Naz.

For those who say easy night for Hamed, if he did beat Barry, it would be his greatest ever victory. Barry smokes everybody Hamed ever beat.
