I am sure there is a conspiracy against Junior Witter, how in the hell can he be treated like this, the fight he lost against Bradley wasn't a clear cut loss, i can see an argument why people think he won. Now he gets shut out, the whole thing is ridiculous. If he fought Bradley again I am sure he would win, he is a much better boxer than Bradley, Bradley's busy but his skills are decent, Witter is a great boxer.
Treated like what? All he needs to do is get his promoter to make a decent offer to either Devon Alexander or whoever the WBC number 3 now is, or else ask the WBC to set a date for purse bids. Instead, he seems perfectly happy treading water. That last fight of his was a farce. Witter has only himself to blame here, he wasted most of his prime years facing the likes of Lucky Sambo and Fred Kinuthia whilst hoping in vain that Ricky Hatton would give him a payday. What he should have done was go after some more Ndou types and earnt himself some respect. Instead, he waited until very late in his career before bothering to step up his opposition. There is no way in hell he won the first Bradley fight and nobody with any sense thinks he did. Bradley is a stylitic nightmare for him, basic but brings the pressure, bodywork, steady jab and right hand. Witter ain't a great boxer, he has some nice punch variety and good reflexes but he is technically poor as is usually the case with Ingle fighters. I would give him a chance to beat Bradley in a rematch, I wasn't impressed with Bradley last week. However, he really needs to get his arse in gear and look for the fights rather than expecting everything to come on a plate.
well look at Amir Khan's career and look at Witter's career.... Kha lost to Prescot and was given MAB and press coverage, Witter lost to Bradley and it's like he has fallen of the face of the earth. I agree that part of this is his fault, before the Bradley fight all Witter did was talk about Hatton fight, but still I think Bradley should give the former champ a rematch. Why isn't he trying to get a remtach with Bradley..... Surely he should of had a rematch clause in the contract ???
Witter's take on Kotelnik-Khan: It's an interesting fight. Kotelnik should be too skilful, have too much ringcraft and he's been around too long. Against me, he had so much resolve, stuck to his gameplan so well. The rise in weight could prove to be a hindrance for Khan – there's a big difference in strength and he's not really fought any full-blown lightweights yet. Amir has good handspeed, no chin but he's decent when he sticks to his gameplan. Kotelnik isn't a banger but he hits solidly and a solid puncher will knock Khan out. He's also very accurate. Khan can give him problems with his speed but unless he's dropped a lot from when he fought me, I can't see him losing. I think he'll knock Khan out. http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/detail.asp?id=1065 No nonesense from Witter there. Kotelnik KO Khan
Khan was an olympic medallist. Those guys are always going to get hyped up when they turn pro, whether they can fight or not (see the files marked Fraudley and DeGale). It's just the way it is, for four weeks the whole country goes daft watching sports they've never given a toss about before and those who win medals are automatically given hero status. Those guys though are the exception rather than the rule and most non gold medallists start on an even footing. It's the old "silver spoon" thing I'm afraid for Khan etc... Witter was maybe unlucky running into Bradley, a rather unremarkable fighter who is a stylistic nemesis, on a bad night for him. But he's still highly ranked in the WBC ratings. I understand Devon Alexander is to get the next shot, but if Witter petitioned the WBC to force purse bids on an eliminator with the next available contender (which was Ajose Olusegun, not sure who it is now) he could put himself in a position to fight the winner of Alexander and Bradley. Win that and he's back. I agree that he has been a bit "President of the who needs him club", but he could also have done more to make things happen for himself. Especially now, he needs to be fighting more regularly. Even though he looks after himself he's not getting any younger.
Someone may correct me on this, but I don't think you can force a rematch clause with a mandatory defence. If the challenger consents to it (ala Taylor-Pavlik) it is a different matter, but the champ can't insist on it.
I think Witter sums up the Ukranian well, he should know after all! He is a very tough dude. Anybody that goes 12 with that Maidana fellow must be, and he was hurt a few times but came back from the brink. He isn't a huge banger but very accurate. Well done Junior.
I read that the WBC gave Bradley an ultimatum, saying he has to fight his WBC mandatory, Devon Alexander, as soon as possible. Supposedly Bradley will drop the WBC and keep the WBO, which would leave Witter and Alexander to fight for the vacant title. I would've thought that Bradley would've kept the WBC and fought the 14-0 Alexander, as it would be a good stabilising fight for him, seeing as how he defeated Witter unexpectedly and suddenly now finds himself at the highest level, without fighting any eliminators.
Alexander doesnt deserve the shot in the first place. I hope Bradley keeps it i think he will he seems to be in the sport for the glory and not the money. Either way Bradley will beat him imo. From the Witter thing Ishy got he seems very knowledgeable on the sport. I think witter has this fight down to a tee
