That is one of the most strangest calling out of a fighter only to turn around and act as if you are the one being called out and dont need the fight or money.

IMO Hopkins was terrified at the thought of 20K rabid fans rooting against him.

As a Hopkins fan, I can live without this one.

Adamek would have outworked him like Calzaghe, except with power behind the punches.

    The table was still open.

    Hopkins didnt budge.

Adamek officially called the fight history in an interview today.

Hopkins is probably getting old and he's worried about his crunchy bones, thus demanded so much cash for rehab after the fight :D

hopkins is a stingy *******. wtf 500,000 for two division champ in adamek? And the sad part is that Adamek have a loyal fan base. I like hopkins but if i was thomas i wouldn't have taken the fight either.

i was NOT shocked when hopkins got the mic's and cameras back on him by suggesting this pure fantasy. i was equally NOT shocked when the hoax was confirmed by the various moves of both hopkins and adamek. i am not saying either man was scared, the matchup simply didn't make sense economically or in terms of either guy's current situation as a fighter.

however, i must say, i WAS SHOCKED that so many of you were drawn so easily into this kind of hyperbolic state of frenzy about how exciting it was that this fight WAS DEFINITELY GOING TO HAPPEN, as so many posters reported having heard from their anonymous sources close to the fighters that cannot be named or verified!!!

i am not ragging on anyone's enthusiasm about a potentially interesting fight that just came out of nowhere, but, come on, don't you remember this same lame fire drill when hopkins WAS DEFINITELY SIGNED to fight oleg maskaev...or when roy jones was a lock to have the showdown of the centry with mike tyson years back? it was dumb and transparent in those cases, just like it has been during the goofball dog-and-pony show of this fiasco.

these types of call-out and retreat from an impossible matchup shams are as old as boxing...and, i think, it's pretty obvious the moment the rumors surface and the trash talking begins that the fight will never get even to the bargaining table, let alone to the first bell.

hopkins, clearly, was never going to fight at 200-pounds...it was never even a possibility.

adamek, clearly, was not going to enter into a fight in which he would be horribly embarassed to the fans and press if he lost and would not get a purse or spotlight showcase big enough to justify the risk.

    ...simple as that.

adamek and his people are idiots for not accepting the fight at 500,000. it woulda guaranteed bigger paydays down the road if he won and if he lost no one woulda faulted him and he coulda carried on. Win win situation for adamek, it was his chance for a break out fight and the best opponent of his career.

I would have loved to see this fight happen only because if Hopkins thought Calzaghes pace was too much and had him feigning injury like a girl Adamek would have gave him much more pressure with the added weight and power that Calzaghe didnt really have.

    Adamek late rounds stoppage
