there are some guys available. Not sure HBO would approve of all of these and I wouldn't want to see a couple of them, but here goes:

Nate Campbell----by far the most attractive in my opinion. A step up in weight vs a step up in class. Campbell has loose ties to GBP but would GBP consider this too risky?

Herman Ngoudjo---solid opponent, available. I can see HBO approving him.

Junior Witter--another solid opponent, not sure HBO would approve or GBP would want the fight

Steve Forbes---I sure as hell hope not!

    Any other names out there?

witter? he'll make you look awful even if you beat him and he's got the pop to shift you if you get careless rushing in. would be a bad choice.

he's lined up to fight Alvarado on the same night, on Pavlik's undercard. Who knows, though, that fight isn't actually signed yet.

Could be bad. But the last time Witter fought a relatively untested young fighter with upside, he lost. He wasn't effective at all that night against Bradley. Could have been a lack of motivation, though. He was a different guy that night.

i suppose, academically that's an option...but there is, literally, no way that a fighter of holt's experience and reputation would take a fight for late june after going the distance and taking some 200 punches--hard or not.

that would mean holt would likely only have a six week camp with only a few weeks out of the gym to let his body, heal, readjust to some kind of walking around weight and then go immediately back into the gym to burn it off, start sparring and so on...with no time to get sparring partners or arrangements for camp in order.

such a move would put holt at a huge disadvantage, physically, after his grueling camp to fight bradley. the body, after all, is like a rubber band, it only maintains its elasticity if it it stretched and then let to return...keep stretching, especially with an old before his time, oft banged up and concussed, fighter like holt, and the body loses its snap and breaks...that is not something i would risk carelessly against a dangerous puncher like ortiz.

Witter had personal issues going into that fight (father diagnosed with cancer) and therefore didn't train all that much and was pretty much dead at 140..... he struggles harder than Hatton to make weight - which is ironic given the amount of **** he gives Ricky about liking beer and pizza.

I don't see Witter fighting Stateside again for some reason, why I don't particularly know - he used to ***** like mad about not getting fights, why not fight someone on short notice for short money, do a job on them and then pick up from there?

Ortiz vs McCloskey would be a good fight, though Paul may have a fight with Witter for the European title lined up......

what about ajose olusegun, the terrific and generally unshakable nigerian technician? his style would definitely make ortiz come up with novel ways to find holes for his punches. olusegun would not be trapped on the ropes or rattled by flashy flurries, ortiz would be tested to find more specific, precise places for his punches against olusegun's tight defense.

i know he might be a bit weak for ortiz at this point, but how about eusebio baluarte? he's a tough, quick filipino fighter who is untested, but, i think, would give ortiz at least a meaningful-enough wrangle for a few rounds.

I wonder how noone mentioned Marcos Maidana. That guy is really good puncher with great stamina, all what he needs it's to start using his brain in fights and some experience.
