Good analysis its a tricky one that because his style is not very fan friendly. I did not know he struggled with the weight because he's always banging on about how he always in the gym.

i would really like to see ortiz fight lucas matthysse, the rough and tumble argentinian toughguy who unloads firepower than even ortiz might want to think twice about. both guys swarm all over their opponents and don't let up. i think ortiz has a small power advantage and is slightly less wild, has better balance. i would expect ortiz to win. but i think the as of yet untested quality of each guy's chin would tell the story in this fight. i also think that both guys would be forced, after a first round not unlike a scene from 'the wild bunch,' to consider a bit more thoughtful defensive movement and posture.

he'd be a tough test. good call. he just slipped my mind because kotelnik is no longer fighting ortiz, so, i guess, i just sort of abolished maidana by association without meaning to.

Even though the Harris fight came apart, Id still like to see Vivian Harris fight him cuz i think he could really test the kid. Apart from the weak chin, harris has the experience, boxing ability, and the punching power to really take ortiz to the next level.

Damn shame Torres is gone. Can you say firefight...

I wouldn't mind seeing if he could stop Ngoudjo.

Edner Cherry would be a good fight IMO....I think Cherry will test Ortiz but Ortiz will overcome and outpoint Cherry.

Gotta disagree with you there bruh. ORtiz has fought his share of worthy opponents and overmatched competition and he doesn't need no more Edner cherry or Njoudjou like the poster above mentioned.. Cherry especially, it was clear in the Bradley fight that he doesn't belong at 140. Bradley isn't a physical fighter yet he was able to bully cherry all night.

At this stage of Ortiz' career, fighting Cherry is a step back and a waste of time.

Vivian Harris is shot to bits.

He was schooled, beaten up and stopped by Witter nearly 2 years ago, and has only fought once since..... during which he was decked twice and one punch away from another stoppage loss.

Cherry would be a decent test, but he has already been owned pretty conclusively by both Malignaggi and Bradley.....

Paulie would be a good test, whilst effectively a one-handed fighter and backing up from a battering by Hatton (which is what it was, the fight was over in the 2nd) you aren't quite sure what you would see.

Who and who? I like to think I follow boxing pretty closely, and I don't think I've ever heard of either one, unless maybe I saw one of them on WNF or something, in which case they didn't impress me (or I would have remembered the name).

It's time for Ortiz to start fighting names, either way. Campbell would be a good one, although I suspect that Campbell would want to hold out for a bigger money or a title fight, and I see no reason why he can't get one. Marcos Rene Maidana might be a good test. So might Demetrius Hopkins, though I'm not sure I ever want to see him on TV again. Same goes for Witter, plus there probably wouldn't be enough money in it for Witter for him to leave the UK. Souleymane M'Baye might be a good choice, but I'm not sure his name is big enough.

If that fight gets made, Matthysse better pray that bad chins don't run in the family.

Also he is free and belongs to the same promouter as Kotelnik. So i think they can change Kotelnik with Maidana. I would like to see that rumble for sure.

Ortiz would be heavily favored, but Cherry would give him some rounds. He gave Bradley a few things to think about, although I think it's pretty clear now that Bradley's chin isn't exactly made of iron.
