Can you explain me what's your problem with Arreola coming in at 255?

The guy throws as many punches in the 8th round as he does in the 1st (see the Malcom Tann bout), he never stops coming forward, he knows how to pace himself. The most moronic thing I've heard about him is "there's the fact that he weighed in at 254 in his last fight and he got dropped"...this is boxing, you get hit and you go down even if you are in perfect shape, he could have tipped the scale at 230 and he would have been decked anyway, he was slugging it out at close range against Walker and got caught...how his weight comes into play??

He's fat and as a result is devoid of footwork... i'm sick of watching slow plodding Heavyweights who can only throw wide punches because there moobs get in the way in that attempt a jab or right cross

Probably because he will underachieve, you moron. It isn't the fact that he doesn't look like David Haye, its the fact that he isn't remotely close to his ideal weight and peak shape.

What a joke of a thread encouraging this sort of garbage.

Because while being a bloated whale of a man works against the Malcom Tanns and the other relative cans on his resume when you step up in competition, you get exposed because you're too slow and too gassed because you're fat.

Not only that but potential boxing fans will tune in and see two men with flopping man boobs whaling away on one another and tune out almost as quickly as they tune in. Nothing says heavyweight showcase like fatties right?

Malcolm Tanm is a C level fighter.

You just have to trust that when he is trying to get through a great jab, mixing it up with a live power puncher, trying to catch a good defensice fither, etc, he will be working harder.

255 is too much for his frame, period.

Arreola has no athletic abilty coming in that shape. It was target practice for Walker until he got hurt. Honestly, Walker could not not miss, he landed everything he threw.

Right, no one expects Chris to look like David Haye, he's not built like that. But it's obvious when someone is overweight. And to agree with a previous poster it pisses us all off who want to like him that he will under-achieve as long as he comes in at this weight.

Arreola is a fat plodder, no questions about it, but it's just his style. 70's Foreman wasn't exactly light on his feet either and he had a perfectly ripped physique and the same could be said for a lot of well conditioned heavyweights of the past. If you see a few of Arreola early bouts when he weighed in around 230 you'll see he fought just the same. I think as long as he knows how to win rounds pacing himself, he'll be ok. Do you really think an obese heavyweight can hurt boxing? Nobody knows who Arreola is, people wouldn't watch him even if he was built like Fank Bruno. In my country probably no more than 1000 people knows who he is. I think it's just the same in the rest of Europe and in America can't be much different.

If his amateur experience is as extensive as his people claim, then he should have utterly outclassed Walker and not have been hit by a punch coming up from Antarctica.

Since his flaws most likely aren't coming from a lack of mental quickness, then they're coming from his body not responding well. The most obvious culprit for his plodding work is the weight holding him back. Weight holding him back speaks to a lack of professionalism. A lack of professionalism speaks to a lack of will (and, perhaps, heart).

We want Fatass Nipple to be hungry for a win, not an ice cream sundae.

Personally, I think the guy sucks; regarless of what he weighs. He's sloppy as can be, and just isn't fun to watch.

Arreola is a slow, easy to hit, crude, plodding boxer that has to resort to trading punches to be effective. He don't need extra weight making him even slower.

I cannot see the hype in this guy. I don't know how anyone can watch Arreola vs Walker and think he is great prospect, like HBO is hyping?

My point is that I think many of you are making too much of a big deal about the Walker fight, guessing that if he was life and death against someone like him he'll be exposed against the top contenders. It could be, of course, but I just have a feeling he's one of those fighters who rise to the occasions regardless of their conditioning always getting the job done perhaps after a brutal slugfest.

How about Walker was picked as an opponent because Arreola's handlers knew that when Arreola hit Walker he would crummble. Walker is a guy who was stopped in 13 seconds before.

Things were going terribly bad until Walker got hit on his shaky chin. Arreola was in trouble himself. Both were highly unproven fighters.
