This fight would be too easy for Guzman. Valero is a club fighter, who has fought pretenders. Plus, Guzman has a very good chin.
This matchup would never happen because Valero's team wouldn't be dumb enough to do it, but if it did the fight would look like something off Pros vs Joes.. Guzman clowning Valero without even putting any effort into it. Guzman by ownage even if Valero is allowed to wear MMA gloves.
I don't even think Arum is still considering Guzman in any fights, not after the way he manhandled Soto and his no-show against Campbell. Valero's streak of KOs and his 0 loss will be put to end, I am sure of that. There is no way he can beat a slick, skilled boxer in Guzman, who also boasts of having a granite chin. It will be like Soto and Guzman all over again. I like the fight to happen, but I will be surprised if Arum pulls this one out for Valero.
IMO they have probably come to their senses that Guzman is too skilled and too good for their hero.:yep
interesting fight. i say, let's get it on! just hope that guzman would show up to fight for this one.
If Guzman has just two decent fight this year he can start gaining his rightful place at the top of the P4P rankings. The guy is super-skilled, fast, defensively sound, has a solid chin, can stick and move really well and open up flurries on the inside without getting tagged, and has already won titles at a few different divisions. I personally think Nate was psyched for that fight and would've beaten him, but I'd give Guzman a very good chance of beating Valero, especially as he called Valero out post-fight once at 130 and Valero said 'Anyone but Guzman'. Not saying Valero's scared, but he knows it's a bad styles matchup for him. Although I wouldn't count out Valero hurting Guzman and stopping him (Valero probably more of a LW than Guzman, and if Guzman can't hurt Valero, which he may be able to, Mosquera did, Valero might just try and stay right on him) I would think it more likely Guzman wins 116-112, 117-111 decision, something like that. Intriguing matchup that would tell us a lot about either fighter. I still think it's more likely to be Soto though, who is fighting regularly, and will give Arum a star either way, either Soto gets paid his dues or Valero beats a B/borderline A-class fighter and proves his worth. I would really like to see Valero-Katsidis though, will give Valero time to develop and also give us a chance to see what he's really made of, at worst Katsidis is at least durable, and at best he's an effective pressure fighter who never stops coming forward. If Valero takes him out in one or two rounds we know he is a force to be reckoned with. But if Katsidis can take his shots and take him into the trenches, how will Valero react? The only time this has happened he looked pretty poor against Mosquera, who wasn't a great fighter himself.
