WHY dont we just end this thread now?

    - Tyson Fury (which is why this thread bagan believe it or not) is a very good prospect who does not deserve to be slated (hes had 5 pro fights for gods sake!!) nor hyped (hes had 5 pro fights for gods sake!!) but ismeremy one to watch. I for one am looking forward to him stepping up the quality of his opposition and think he'll be British champion within a year.

    - Britsh fighters do not by nature have glass jaws. Why would being born in a certain country (one which has a rich mix of ethnicities and races at that) mean that you have an inherently glass jaw, the notion is just ridiculous

    - Pound for pound Britain is a top boxing nation. Anybody who says otherwise automaticall looks like an idiot, simply look at the facts

    - The US, an undoubtedly great boxing nation, and the place where all great boxers make their name is going through a tough patch but will be back. Just because they are suffering now does not mean they should slate other nations and continents. Leave us 'Eurobums' alone, were doing fine thank you very much. Boxing wise, we're at least as good as you at the moment

    - AND FINALLY Ricky Hatton is goona defeat Manny Pacqiao by TKO and David Haye wil KTFO Wlad, which, i think ull agree, should make Britain given its size, the best boxing nation on the planet. Shame that Super middle weight and light heavy weight champion Joe Calzaghe has retired really. Cos if you didnt know....he was a brit

It's a chicken and egg thing though. How credible is credible? How much of a threat is a real threat? It's a hindsight thing, something you don't really know until you know just how good the fighter is.

Look at Calzaghe/Lacy. Everyone thought this was a credible fight until afterwards. Then everyone said Lacy was a bum all along.

IMHO if Tyson keeps fighting every month his career *should* follow a similar trajectory to Lewis' up to British/European level i.e. British and Euro titles within about 15 fights. We won't know what he's got until then, and what happens beyond that is anyones guess.

However, when 99.9% of active boxers are defined as Glass Jawed (did you like the capital G and J Rico) then it tends to **** people off a bit, because it shows a distinct lack of respect for the pros mentioned.

I believe Rico had Margarito down as having a Glass Jaw (did you like that Rico:hey) after the Mosley defeat.

Well, yeah, it aggravates the hell out of me, too! As for nuthugging, though, I think he dogs every single fighter in existance, which makes me wonder why he's here in the first place. :huh Apart from the implied racism, disrespect and over-the-top patriotism, he could be worse... wait, that does sound like it's just as bad as the worst trolls here! Point taken, D-MAC!

im sorry tyson fury IS NOT a bum. He's only had 5 pro fights (all since he made his debut only last december btw) and in his last one a few hours ago KO'd a fighter in 48 seconds that enzo mac (not great i agree, but a former wbo cruiserweight world champion) took 2 rounds to beat, and took audley (ok not great either, but more because of his chin and attitude- he had all the offensive talents to make it to world level) also 2 rounds to beat. He is also only 20, and still obviously hasnt fully physically developed yet, hes had only 5 fights, and beat everyone put in fromt of him convincingly, beating a 20-3 fighter in his second fight, hes called out practically the entire british domestic heavyweight scene, and they're all running scared from him. also even though his last fight was only a few hours ago he fights again in less than 2 weeks on the froch-taylor undercard which is incredible. He says he wants to be british champion within the year, and the way hes going he'll do it easily. So, so far so good, obviously hes being hyped to ****, but I'm afraid that's our (and mostly american owned may i add) carzy media, and is to be expected. There are so many unknowns, number 1 whats his chin like? Noone knows, but just because noone knows yet we should write him off, or call him a bum? he comes from a family of irish decended gypsies, who are known as being tough as ****, so he may have a very very good chin, i think he was known for a good chin in the amateurs. We should just say hes passed every test so far with flying colours, and just wait and see what happens when the bigger test come around. he may have the hight advantage of the klits but he obviously isnt intent on using it in the boring way they do, he loves getting in the ring and having a tear-up in good old british-brawler tradition, so surely how can anyone who loves the sport of boxing not welcome a young exciting fighter like him into the scene? also to the bloke who said america would have another heavyweight world champion before us - so you plan to do that before june20th then do you?

I'll be honest, i'm pissed and never read all of that but the 1st parts of the para's made me think you made a lot of sense. Fury is knee high to a grasshopper (metaphorically). Of course he makes wild claims, he's a gypo, they have a culture of raising cash out of dry dirt. Give the big lad a break.

Weak chins in Europe? Thats just nonsense and whoever said so knows it, see Froch over there shortly.

I'm proud of British boxing, in my lifetime and for the forseeable we have lads to follow and be proud of.

I was actually impressed with Fury tonight, looks much leaner and had some good power there. Obviously Ellis was woeful but promising stuff from the big fella.

I have no opinion on Fury, you have to know that this little "fun fact" says absolutely nothing, right? I'm sure one of these guys Fury has KO'd in 3 rounds was beaten in 2 by some other guy, but it has no bearing on how good Fury actually is. Beating a seasoned vet in his 5th fight is good enough in its own right.
