A good chunk of Wright. In fact, one may be able to make the case that in his prime Winky would have had big, big problems with Williams :)

Was hard to tell as he was fighting a guy with a terrible style for him as well as having pretty much every physical advantage you could want. Winky was supposed to be the bigger man, but his punches had zero effect and I even thought that Paul had him hurt in the 2nd and 9th round when he let his hands go but sat down on the shots.

I dont think Any version of Winky beats Paul, that 10 inch reach advantage, speed, workrate and movement would be too much at anytime. A lot was made of how easy to hit Paul is too, but again, there was little evidence to support this last night, sure he took a couple of flush shots, but this is boxing. For the most part his speed, movement and body feints meant Winky was throwing short or wide for the most part. I think the best Winky would ever do would be maybe take 4 rounds from Paul, he is simply too much.

I think Paul has now proven he belongs up at the top and is a serious threat to anyone from welter to middle (and probably above once he fills out more)

Not just a good chunk - 90% you say... Interesting.

What do you make of Wright's overall output, frequency of punches thrown, and unwillingness/inability to throw more power shots? I ask, because Antonio "Slow-As-Molasses" Margarito was getting off with every punch in the book when he fought Williams..... Is this just a simple case of styles, or is there more to it?

Winky is the weakest puncher I've seen in my life. I think Ivan Calderon hits harder than him. Why would anyone in their right mind would expect him to hurt Williams?

I'll have to watch the fight properly first(fell asleep) but I managed to watch a round or so on Youtube this morning and Wright seemed to be in good shape. As I said, Wright is one of those natural fighters who has too much quality to fade away into nothing due to inactivity.

Good point about Margo. Hard to say, I'll really have to watch the fight properly first.

Sure are! I fully expected to be in the minority, since no one seems to have given Winky as many of the swing rounds as I did.

How do you rate the quality of Winky's performance, and the sharpness of his tools and physical body?

**** 70 or 80% at least. Either way, Paul beat the fight out of him. Good win for Paul. I can't discredit Paul for that performance.

I would say 60% due to his age and long lay off. Though he looked pretty good early in the first round. But PW would give him a tough fight in any time in his career. The way he was getting through and around Winky's guard was crazy.
