Chris Arreola. Can he be a REAL threat in the poor Heavyweight division?

My guess is that he can beat up on pudgy old pugs like 'In Decline' McCline for another couple of years, but at some point, his apparent lack of conditioning, and obvious lack of rudimentary boxing skills, will get him 'found out.'
I'd go so far as to say that even a well past his prime David Tua would probably expose his wild, winging punches with a pretty quick KO defeat.
I don't see too much head movement from him either, and a decent counter puncher would catch him with ease.
I think he should spend more time in the gym, and less time getting his soft looking torso graffittied in the local tattoo studio, if he wants any longevity in the professional boxing ranks.

I was cracking up during the Arreola-McCline fight during the replays. You could see all the flab jiggle after every punch.

the gap between the top guys and the rest is way too big
klitchko's and haye are too much for the rest of the heavies

maybe povetkin but i have my suspisions about him
he is at a phew levels below anyways with guys like ruslan chag

 

i mean sam peter was one of the main men not too long ago

now everyone knows he is not elite by a long shot
exposed by vitali and had a job done on him by a fat chambers

a good shape chambers got outclassed by povetkin

I find it hilarious when Klitites try to convince us the division is good.

 

He will lose to Eddie Chambers if Arreola decides to fight him next, Chambers will give Arreola a boxing a lesson.

 

I don't think so. At least not a long-term one.

I have concerns about his lousy conditioning, his porous defence and maybe even his punch resistance. He can hit well, throw combos and pushes forward but against someone like Wlad or Vitali for example I can see him walking right onto something heavy and going down in a heap.

However, even with those flaws he deserves to be considered one of the top ten guys in the division. There just isn't that much depth.

 

He's definently a top contender, i just hope he gets the chance to fight Vitali Klitshcko with his perfect record intact. Would be good for the heavyweight division, in my opinion...

Chris Arreola -vs- Vitali Klitschko in LA stables center or a bigger arena would be a great money maker!! Plus CA is a hotbed for boxing would be a easy sell! Thats a if if Vitali does not score a fight with Lewis which is rumored...So this would haft to wait till the fall or take it 1st before the super-match.....

 

we may see another case of the klits retiring and leaving the belts vacant...there is to be a transition and passing of the torch for us to recognize a real champ. and i do not think arreola would want to have a piece of the klits

 

LoL at the kool-aid Wald fans are drinking. Chris will manhandle Wald. It's amazing how you guys keep disregarding that Wald has been KTFO by a south african golfer and a guy with over a dozen losses and a guy with only one eye. I know it's hard picturing Wald again getting KTFO if he does face Chris who is a a speedy, powerful, young, aggressive and combination throwing confirmed beast.

Vitali is another story. There's no one in the division that can beat him at this time.

 

Arreola is a top contender in a very lethargic era of heavyweight boxing. Don't get me wrong, I would like nothing more than to see Arreola beat both EPO Klitschko sisters. But we're must deal with reality. And the reality of the matter is Arreola is not a good HW. HBO is hyping/pushing Arreola because the American HW scene has been garbage for some time now.

It was obvious to me Merchant, Lampley and Steward were disingenuous with their commentary of Arreola. I truly believe they know Arreola's ability is limited, but were kindly trying to paint a positive picture for Arreola and his fansbase. Remember, HBO's bottom line is $$$. If they can capitalize off of Arreola's "success" and enthusiastic fans, they will do what ever it takes to get more people to watch Arreola on HBO. Arreola is the flavor of the day right now and HBO will take full advantage of the opportunity until he gets annihilated by the top 5 or 6 HW contenders.
