This is ridiculous. I'm a big fan of Paul Williams but I don't want to see him anywhere north of 160, 168 at a stretch. Winky was a very good win for him but come on, don't be stupid.
If Paul could keep AA from landing a big shot, he'd out box him and win a wide UD. Abraham has only fought 2 guys over 6 foot, and he looked like crap against both.
If he had been in there with Pavlik I would have to give the edge to Pavlik based on power ..Wonder if he can produce that type of punch out put against a fighter that will make him respect his power ..With Wright he didn't get that .
You're looking at the same I think I looked at. Paul would start out throwing like a mad man, but about 3 rounds in he'd figure out that he is not hurting KP, and that everything KP throws has something on it. PW would be in there with a guy who is capable of coming close to matching his own punch output. Kelly's power, work rate, and toughness would force Paul to slow down and try to pick his shots. But would Williams do that, or would he get sucked into a war of attrition? Right now I'm thinking it's a short, fast, and brutal fight.
Maybe up to 168..i think 175 and over that is way to much..paul can probably make the 160lb limit his whole career...he'll grow out of 154 and 147 though...
Does Williams hit harder than Miranda at 160? No. Does Williams box and move better than Taylor in the Pavlik/Taylor rematch? No. Does Williams have faster hands and feet than Taylor at 160? No. What does Pavlik do against guys who throw a lot of punches? He goes to war, and beats 7 shades of **** out of them. Pavlik/Williams is a very exciting 5 round fight, and Paul leaves on a stretcher.
I think he could easily go to 175 with his frame. The guy is huge even for a middleweight. He was downright freakish at WW.
yeah I'll have to see Paul in their a couple more times vs Solid opponents at Middle before we can get a real gage of what he's capable of.
