Alexander Dimitrenko vs Alexander Povetkin.. who wins?

.. I just watched a little bit of this guy Dimitrenko for the first time, and I have to say I'm a little impressed. Nice footwork and upper body movement, decent combos, good jab, pretty quick handspeed.. he reminds me of Andrew Golota a little bit.

I'm surprised there isn't a little more interest in this guy.. sure he's no Larry Holmes but to me he sticks out like a sore thumb in a heavyweight division like today.

 

He is better than Haye imo.

Its just that he is not black, muscled and got the hype train that Haye has.

 

I wouldn't say he's better than Haye. He's a good all-round fighter and stopped Krasniqi with a fantastic liver hook, but David hits much, much harder and is the more spectacular fighter, which is probably why he's much better known. Head-to-head, if Dimitrenko's chin proves good enough, he may just beat Haye, but overal i'd consider Haye the more dangerous boxer.

 

David Haye is not a prospect, he's a world class and proven champion.

Dimitrenko will fail soon along the line, that you better believe, trust me.

Haye is proven at cruiserweight.. get it through your delusional Haye-lovin' heads. Beating two heavyweights in his career says ****-all about his class at the division.

 

One heavyweight who is about 100 in the division and Barrett who is 50/50 in his last 6 fights prior to fighting Haye and one loss was against a light hitting Couser who stopped him quicker than Haye

 

Speed and power look to be the only things Haye has over Dimitrenko.. and the speed advantage isn't by much. Dimitrenko on the other hand has shown better footwork, upper body and lateral movement, chin, and a better jab.

He's also shown good handspeed and decent power himself.

 

Note: I'm changing the name of this thread. I initially mentioned David Haye just to attract attention to the thread, but I forgot that I'd also be attracting Haye's delusional fans as well.

Looks like Dimitrenko is starting to throw with more conviction lately.He's ko'ed his last 5 opponents, besides the Krasniqi ko,he the was the first to stop Hoffman and stopped Tann 3 rds quicker than Areola did.Might be someone to watch since he's only 26 yrs old and seems to be progressing nicely.

Dimitrenko is a future star of the division imo opinion, but alot of people are over looking the man because of the Haye hype at the moment.

Dimitrenko has the size, speed and strength to cause hasle in the division.

 

Dimitrenko has good jab and decent power, though i think Povetkin has the edge on this one

 

Normally I'd say Povetkin but if the Povetkin from the Estrada fight shows up Dimitrenko takes it. Dimitrenko is a poor man's Wlad but still overall pretty decent. Povetkin should take the fight if he truely thinks he can beat Wlad because there is really no better preparation for a Wlad fight than Dimitrenko, he is the one guy in the division that mirrors Wlad the most. But if he doesn't want to risk the Wlad fight and secure his payday he should avoid Dimitrenko.

 

Povetkin would beat Dmitrienko in a tough fight, probaby by decision. I say this because Dmitrienko has shown many shortcomings in his past performances. Povetkin looked like crap against Estrada, it is true, but I believe this fight was probably an off-night for Povetkin.

Assuming he's sharp and fights his best, Povetkin would pressure Dmitrienko intensely. Dmitrienko would have a lot of trouble with Povetkin on the inside, and Povetkin would maintain the initiative for the duration of the bout.
