Curious to hear ESB members pick this one. Of course at welterweight.

In the past I have said PBF by UD but Williams has really improved since then. This is really now a pick em fight.

this fight would never happen, just like Floyd demands that JMM fights him at 147 he would ask Williams to fight him at 140.

Does that mean you won't pick one?

I have to pick Williams by default.
(Floyd has not shown the Sacc to take on this type of Comp)

If you thought Quintana made it look easy to pot shot Williams wait until you see Floyd do it.

Williams is the bigger man by far and has the reach advantage. You really think that Williams can't keep him at the end of that stick?

'Paul Williams' is the synonym of 'bad style matchup' for Floyd. The anti-Mayweather punch is the well-timed quick jab and Williams, quite unexpectedly, easily outjabbed THE top jabber in these divisions in Winky by a landslide. Unlike Margarito, he throws his never-stopping punches with impressive handspeed and from all angles, even if going backwards, and fighting a bit better from distance than before. Quintana put on an excellent fight, but any version of Winky is much better than Carlos and a seemingly improved Williams put on a dominating performance.

Of course despite being defensively very sound and having a great speedy jab, Winky moves in stright lines and throws straight punches, and Williams gave him all kind of angles and the longer reach to mess up Wright's game, who was out for 2 years, so the win has to be put into perspective. Floyd fights totally differently. He's very hard to hit, quicker and MUCH more accurate than Williams, who still makes a lots of mistakes, just gets away with it due to his phyiscal abilities. Floyd also has an amazing stamina and very good adaptability to find his range and rhythm vs. any kind of fighters incl. much taller guys, so it's not easy to pick either guy.

But as I've always said, a top elite fighter with a very good jab, decent defense and good handspeed can give Mayweather that first loss, like a prime DLH (easily), prime Forrest (maybe), prime Winky (most likely). Now Williams makes a lot more defensive mistakes than those fighters, but MUCH busier to convince judges to favor his overwhelming number of punches over the limited number of crisp counters (look at the DLH-Mayweather scoring), and he's much taller and has a much better stamina than them to do it for 12 rounds.

Very interesting fight, it should happen at some point.

Have you seen Williams/Quintana I and the opening moments of the rematch?? Yeah, I DEFINATELY don't think he could keep Floyd Mayweather on the end of ****. POSITIVELY NOT.

Williams might be able to throw 100 shots per round, but would land what, exactly?

You also forget Floyd's excellent right hand lead - a classic weapon against southpaws...... not wishing to sound like a nuthugger, but there is no current fighter with the tools to beat Floyd.

    Shame, isn't it
