To top it off, what was with Merchant's surprisingly ignorant comment about Williams's arguments of being an avoided fighter being "a myth" created by his corner without merit?

He dropped it clearly, conspicuously, patently, incontestably, indutiably, unmistakably and undeniably.

The undercard was over and done with.

Lampley asked Stewart for his views on the fight. The one which had just ended. The main event of the evening. That fight.

And Manny talked a bit about the fight. The one under discussion.

Then Jim turned to Larry and asked for his thoughts.

To the surprise of Jim, and, I'm sure, most of the audience, Larry seemed to fall into a temporal wrinkle of some sort, and found himself, mentally at least, back in contemplation of Christobal, and still bemused by that handle, and rattled on a bit about the undercard.

He ignored the fight in question, made no comment on the main event, and was so out of context that Jim had to explain for the audience that Larry was reverting to discussion of a different fight.

He dropped the ball, missed the boat, screwed the pooch, messed up, swung and missed, ****ed up.

    Choose your metaphor.

And I'm a fan of Larry and hope he's around longer than that young idiot Max.

I was moved by his tribute to some guy I'd never heard of.

But in regard to the OP question, he dropped the ball.

Because he was right with his main point. Let him make a name and become his own man. There's nothing wrong with that.

Let's not even go into the point that Williams' camp stepped away from a Pavlik fight and Williams rejected Margo's first offer after Williams beat him (which led to Arum's stupid anti-PW BS).

    Ducked? Certainly

Some unstoppable force who is ducked and avoided for no reason? Be real.

    Now now, Boo.

The only Mrs Williams present was Paul's momma.

And I hope she wouldn't be getting jealous over someone sucking on her baby's dick !

How much was Margarito's first offer? Because Williams' camp offered Margarito $4 million for a rematch in the latter half of 2008 and Margarito decided to take $2.5 million to fight Mosley, which says something.

Not privvy to those details...but if you're trying to say that Margarito "ducked" Williams then you're wrong.

Arum just really REALLY hates Paul Williams. Ya know how Captain Hook hates Peter Pan? Yeah, like that.

dude, Williams camp didn't step away from a KP fight, both sides just wanted too much $ that HBO wasn't going to pay. It was far less realistic than it is right now. And the Marg rematch argument has been beaten to death. So they made Marg wait a minute, after they had to go to court to enforce the mandatory. They eventually put out a huge offer and Marg took far less for his next fight.

Williams is doing everything he can. Fighting at multiple weight classes, as often as possible.

I've heard that it wasn't both sides but one side. You guess which side.

My point isn't whether it's RIGHT or wrong. I personally believe Paul was well within his right to take time off and fight different opponents. If Arum truly wanted a rematch, he could've thrown it into a contract.

That said be that as it may or may not. Arum doesn't like Williams. Simple as that. Arum and GBP are the big fish and if one of them is going to freeze you out, yer essentially ****ed.

    Okay? And?

    Cry me a ****ing river!

The entire HBO broadcast was centered around hyping up Williams.

Larry has always liked heavyweights, and for some reason, he likes Arreola. What the **** is the problem here?

    Larry is da man!

Larry is a legend and truly tells it like it is.

Credit to Larry for recognizing that the best fight of the night was the Heavyweight fight between Arreola and McCline. It was the more action filled fight which resulted in a KO. Before that fight, no one had ever stopped Jameel McCline in such brutal fashion.

Keep in mind, this is the same division that everyone calls the worst division in boxing.

Well on this night, it was easily the more entertaining fight.

Chris didn't get a victory by playing paddy-cake against a guy who has been inactive for 2 years.
