Do you consider Vitali a quitter for quitting against the feather-fisted Chris Byrd?

    No I dont, he didnt want to risk injury and it was the first time he was ever in any real trouble in a fight. He should have continued yes but he is no quitter, I garuntee if that happened again today he would continue and jab his way to a win.

    The fact is here's a quick run down of awesome fighters whose "quit":

    Mike Tyson, Roberto Duran, Vitali Klitschko, Julio Cesar Chavez, Alexis Arguello, Kostya Tszyu and Oscar De la Hoya.

    How would people feel about Ali had he gotten his way before the 15th round?

    I also have a problem with people labelling fighter as quitters, glass jawed, etc. 3/4 of people here never went in the ring putting gloves against someone who's goal is to take your head off and hurt you. Quitting can be justified, I have no problem with fighters quitting (except example Duran quitting against Leonard because of pure frustration), boxing is the hurt business and life is more important than making a couple of people sitting in their homes happy for a moment...

    We should respect every boxer that goes in the ring...

    Exactly. Its 1 of the most painful injuries you can have. While its easy for us to sit back and judge, until you are in Vitali shoes, I dont think we can question it.

    Sam Peter stopped on his stool against Vitali, Brewster against Wlad also and I wouldnt call Peter or Brewster quitters either

    comming from a guy with Kellerman in his avatar, you lose all respect for that. And if you label Vitali a quitter for the Byrd fight then Duran and many other greats have greater offenses.

    Except when Peter and Brewster quit, they were clearly down on points arguably losing every single round.

    Vitali on the other hand pretty much swept the first 9 rounds against Byrd and still quit.

    Or it shows that he has absolutely no heart whatsoever.

    When you are down on points and are unable to win a decision or knock your opponent out, it's indicative that you have essentially lost and you will only be taking unnecessary punishment if you continue.

    Vitali, on the other hand, could've just won the fight by running for 9 minutes. Fighters have fought on through much more difficult situations before than what Vitali was going through. Vitali is a quitter, plain and simple.
