Let me ask you this, do you think Vitali would still quit on his stool vs Bryd if he didn't have a rotator cuff back in 2000? And btw why you bringing up about Vitali quit vs Bryd back in 2000? Do you realize it was 9 years ago? Don't you think Vitali redeem himself when he fought a much stronger power puncher in Lewis?

No, he is not a quitter(and this is coming from grade A Klit-hater), the injury was way too severe. Yea maybe Rocky Marciano or other great warrior might say "**** it" and KO Byrd with one hand, but this doesnt mean that Vitali is a quitter.

Vitali Klitschko is the WBC champion of the world and widely seen as the or second best heavyweight on the planet. He has more many than anyone here will ever make and his name will always be tied to one of the highest KO percentages in history....

Not bad, do you think he gives a flying **** about some people on a message board arguing about a fight nearly a decade ago that he was clearly winning, but where he choose his career over a single match?

 

No, I do not consider Vitali KlitschKO a quitter. I consider him a wise man who took the right decision in an unfortunate situation. The hystory proved he was right. He had so many great fights afterwards. If he had decided to continue, we may not have seen him again in the ring for his injury was severe. He fought under freezing pain for most of the fight. Vitali KlitschKO lost a battle but he won the war and now is P4P # 1 and the biggest puncher in the heavyweight division for all times.

 

And this is the reason why you cant call him a quitter. If he was losing then you could say he was trying to blame the loss on injury and leave question marks, but like you noted he was shutting Byrd out and on his way to a comfortable UD victory. The injury must have been so severe that he couldnt even last few more minutes with a feather fisted Byrd.

His fight with Lennox Lewis further proved that he is not a quitter.

I say this,,,I don't think he is a coward,,,He is smart, an at that moment he thought like a smart man, an not so much as a fighter,,,i can respect that,,, As a fan, i know that loss cost vitali a great shot at lewis, not some stand in shot, but one with months to pre-pare, or one at ike,,,these fights i see vitali winning(unless of course it is stopped on cuts) .......i would not say he is a quiter, but i wish he did not quite, but then i am a selfish fan,,he did need surger right away

 

I suppose technically he did quit... and you could draw reference to Danny Williams continuing against Mark Potter with a dislocated shoulder and eventually won by stoppage.

But - could any of you say that you wouldn't have done the same?
