I agree with you on the McCline thing, he was there to be a name opponent to pad Arreola's resume and make him look good.

The Williams-Winky fight was another matter. A great fighter coming off a period of inactivity and getting a shot at one of the sport's up and coming champs. The result was predictable, but it's a different sort of fight.

Two different types of fight - but two types of fights that have occurred throughout boxing history. If you are gonna criticize Arreola and Williams for this, there's a lot of other fighters who's records need to scruitinized!!

Winky and Paul could not get any other big names, so they fought each other. Winky took one of the toughest match ups he could have taken after a long layoff so I give him credit for it. Lots of people said Paul would get schooled and thought it was a bad match up for him but he literally will fight anyone himself. Winky Wright being a hand-picked opponent for Paul to look good is beyond idiotic considering almost no one has ever looked great against Winky.

I agree with the guy who started this thread, i'm definitely not a hater of Paul Williams but this seems like a padding of the records. At this point in time, McCline was not anywhere near competetive.

Winky did the best he could to make the fight competetive but Winky never has been that type of fighter and shouldve taken a tune up before taking that fight.

He obbiously just came for the payday.
Don King barely convinced him to come out of retirement. He could have gotten up but the old man had enough.

Yeah it was I suppose but even Travis Walker was a better opponent.McClione is just a name on the resume. He didn't come to fight and when he let his hands go in the 3rd he hurt me slightly.
