    Just curious..

In my opinion he was a wonderful boxer but doesnt get the respect he deserves.

Where do you guys rate him as far as HW's go?

I always rate Holmes up there with the best that ever did it at HW. Even give him the edge over most in a H2H match-up. I don't have no #, But let's just say that other than a Prime Foreman, Prime Tyson or Prime Joe Louis, Larry best's them all at least once.

Very highly. He didn't have the resume some guys have, but he dominated his era and ranks very highly H2H. Best HW jab ever, great footwork and lateral movement, solid chin, great recovery skills, a hard overhand right and right uppercut. He was very hard to beat.

I agree with both of you. Do you guys think that some of his reputation was tarnished when he was over the hill and he fought a prime Tyson?

It hasnt for me, but it seems like to alot of cats if you bring up Larry, they associate him with the Tyson KO.. Not really fair.

    A beast!

A prime Larry Holmes is truly elite, very few could've touched him. That jab was supreme, and his ring generalship second only to Muhammed Ali IMHO.

Who would win between a prime Holmes and prime Lewis?

The problem with prime Holmes is he did not have that many great fighters around him to fight. His era in his Prime was very weak (post Ali-pre Tyson early 80's) similar to what we are seeing today.

Regardless Holmes beat everyone they put in front of him no matter the competition and you can't take that away from him.

Top 5 Heavyweight of all time, probably at 4 or 5. Top 25 boxers of all time somewhere around 20.
