I cant see him fighting again,he seemed to be ready to retire a fair while before he actually did.He has made a decent ammount of money and i think he wants to enjoy himself for a while. He may start working the corners with his dad but i cant see him fighting again.

    Nope.

I would have liked to see him fight Froch or Taylor before he called it day.

Taylor would have been a good fight. The two men who defeated the modern day Hopkins squaring off.

Doubt it, he's moved on now and is concentrating on other things. Only would happen if a stupid money offer was made. Given the absence of any superstars at 168 or 175 this is very unlikely to happen.

Problem is Calzaghe wasn't as good a boxer as Lennox Lewis, or as good an entertainer as Naseem Hamed. Plus Calzaghe spent most of his career only fighting people who were willing to come to Wales. Ain't no money in that.

It's weird, in one way his career was stage managed fantastically well to preserve the '0' and make plenty of people think he is better than he actually is, but in another way it was managed badly, because he could have go to the US at an earlier stage (I.e not a year before retirement), beat better fighters sooner, become and established star and earned a shed load of cash. A thin line between success and failure.

I doubt it, personally. Never say never but...another year passes by and he gets closer to 40 and this will be put to bed for good.

I don't think Joe is going to waste all his cash considering his lifestyle - there will be no returns for money either.

I just think froch will continue to do his best to get under Joe's skin, and may eventually succeed.

I hope Froch keeps at it, would love to see Froch-Calzaghe. Although I have a sneaky feeling that Froch is actually rather ****, so it might not be worth Calzaghe's time or effort.

Froch can't even get a decent UK tv deal for his fight against Taylor. He's hardly a tempting proposition - at the moment - to come out of retirement for...

You may well be right, but i think part of calzaghe's make up is that he thinks that froch is ****, and would want ot prove it, and if it goes tits up it will be "well i haven't fought for so long blah blah blah" so it's win win for him.

Maybe, but i think calzaghe is enough of a nark to get ****ed off with froch to want to shut him the **** up!

Hoya I'm in agreement with nearly everything you've said on this thread. Naz was greater then calzaghe IMO

Bollocks was he. Hamed would never have beaten a Hopkins. I would be surprised if he beat a Kessler.

That is the versatility and brilliance of Calzaghe, compared to the show pony Hamed :smoke

Thanks Jeff, have a read of this article I wrote on the first page of this thread.

I think it reflects exactly why Hamed should be regarded more highly than Calzaghe.
