I don't think too many people deny that his fundamentals are horrible, but he has every bit as much natural talent as a Roy or Sweet Pea. They were both fundamentally sounder than he is (Pea much so), but he's so talented that he's a freak who should do very well despite having very poor fundamentals. His footwork is about as bad as I've ever seen for someone with feet as quick as his, and as you've mentioned he makes a lot of dumb defensive mistakes. He's just fast enough that his speed makes up for some of those technical deficiencies, at least in part.

He has an extremely leaky defence,but damn Gamboa is one of the few truly blessed fighters out there.His natural talent is awesome!! Very exciting style,fun to watch,very telling pop in his fists,charisma,and fast as a gazelle. His weapons are that sharp that his weak spots dont really play such a big role in his performances.
