Very interested in hearing some thoughts on how this would play out.

Jirov is kinda like Paul. Style wise and all, just a different wc.

This fight will be exactly like the Briggs fights imo. Both go to war, both eat a lot of punches, but in the end, Adamek will edge him on points, but a case can be made that Jirov can win too.

This fight wont be a UD it will be like a SD/MD or even a draw type victory for either fighter imo. But i edge Adamek now.

Would be a proper 'old school' tear up. I agree with you that on current form you can't look past Adamek. Love the fact that he fought Banks only 2 months after Cunningham.

If Adamek/Jirov was american or british you'd probably be on page 10 by now.

I think Vasily quite clearly but in a memorable battle.

Both have an element of physicality in their style and I think the more proven cruiser with the heavyweight credentials (as limited as they may be) would have the edge in this department. And I think Vasily is overall just a bit better anyway.

I could see him grinding out a stoppage but Tomasz has shown anything but a weak chin so far..Probably goes to the cards with Vasily ahead.. both probably sporting some cuts, bruises and significant swelling for their trouble.

Well, I'm gonna' say Adamek PTS in an absolute war, but probably because I've seen more of Admek recently.

If I re-watched Jirov-Toney I'd probab;y hail Jirov as the next coming of Christ! What a fight that was, but, fresh in my mind, I'd say Adamek.

What about Prime Jirov vs. Prime Holyfield? Adamek-Holyfield would be amazing too, too iron chins, too iron wills, and two ferocious non-stop punchers who aren't one-punch k.o artists.

I was considering Holyfield, too, when I started this thread.

In fairness, I haven't seen a lot of Holyfield at Cruiser. I did see his fight with Dwight Qawi, though, and honestly....Holyfield was a bit green then, and was a much more flawed fighter than he would later become.

I think Adamek would beat Jirov in a pretty brutal war.

I don't think I'm well enough informed to venture a guess as to how either would do against Holy, though.

First off i'm a huge fan of both.

Knowing you from some of your posts i assume you're Polish? You're either a Pole who dislike Russians or haven't seen alot of Jirov, or a combo of both.

Jirov who is a southpaw, his headmovement, upperbody movement, footwork all quite herky-jerky, punch variety and workrate are all completely different from birggs. Aside from both being tough as nails i honestly don't see similarities.

Jirov was a very good boxer. You can see it in his amateur days and some of his pro fights (when he elects to box). Off the top of my head in a couple a rds in the Letterlough fight and half the rounds in the Castro fight (he would alternate from brawling to boxing almost every round it seemed) he showed his boxing skills.

Adamek is a very complete boxer too but i see Jirov having better footwork (when he chooses to use it) a wider punch variety.

Adamek while being a pressure fighter chooses his punches very carefully and doesn't waist shots while Jirov throws non stop. Adamek's counterpunching isn't on a James Toney level though so i can't see him getting the better of it.

Aside from Dawson i can't think of any other southpaw fights i'v seen Adamek against. He may not be that comfortable with them though, although Jirov does usually square up quite often. That is one thing that i'd like to see more of about Adamek before i'd give a solid opinion on.

Jirov is one of the nastiest ****ing body punchers in the last few decades imo. Adamek when he commits to it like he did in the last 2 or 3 rounds of the Banks fight is a good body puncher himself, but not on Jirovs level imo. The body punches could also lower Adameks workrate.

Their chins are both solid as hell but not impenitrable. I don't really see either stopping the other upstaires. I mean Jirov took a beating from Mesi from rds 2-8 and was never stunned. A perfectly placed body shot on Adamek though like he landed vs Williams or Brown is a possibility though.

Both are as determined and tough as a coffin nail. I see it going 12 but Jirov winning a decision, being able to make Adamek miss more than Adamek can him. Adamek maybe going down from a body shot but being able to grit the round out.

But a southpaw with slightly better boxing skills and footwork who has a busier workrate grinds it out it in what would be a war that would make the Walker, Lamotta, & Zale's proud.

Adamek by very close decision at Cruiser. However at heavy he beats him more convincingly maybe late stoppage.

Jirov was one of the best body punchers of the past 20 years.
