Kirkland would but the other two...NOPE We have already seen Martinez fall apart under the pressure of Margo, Williams would put even more pressure on him. Quintana a rubber match??? Are you stupid??? What would be the point??? I think that its pretty clear from the first two fights that the first was a fluke like win for Carlos. Youre just putting on a great display of hate on. Most of your points are valid. Yeah is scared to fight Santos and Martinez both of whom are on that list of guys that wouldnt fight Williams, but he is willing to fight middleweights and supermiddleweights and even Lt heavyweights...atsch
i wonder if paul williams will be one of those guys who everyone hypothesizes a big intricate game plan but nobody will ever be able to really execute it once they step inside the ring because his style is to awkward or good to cope with kinda like floyd & calzaghe or will he lose soon letting everyone down and turning into one of those "i told you so guys" kinda like cotto & margarito
PW could lose 3 fights in a row & it won't matter, He has proven he will fight anyone win or lose that's what the people want.
if he lost 3 in a row nobody worth a damn would fight him because 147-160 he's a threat and i dont think everyone is willing to take the risk...... ill say this for sure between 147-160 he is a cake walk for no one
Martinez has great lateral movement and would give Williams a much harder fight than you realize. Also, what makes you think the 1st fight was the "fluke"? I think the second fight was more of a fluke. Quintana is not an effective aggressor and that's the role he was playing that night. It was a stupid fight plan and he really thought he could knock out paul Williams. A rubber match would be a much more tactical fight, a lot like the first one. i'm not saying that Carlos would win, but it would be another close fight. If you can't see that, than you have the "nut-hugger" lenses on a little too tight.
How can I bring up valid points and show blatant hatred at the same time? I don't hate any fighters...including your boy Paul Williams. I simply watch the fights without a favorite or a bias. You should try doing the same, instead of sounding like an unrealistic nut-hugger.
You're right about Martinez, and wrong about Quintana. It's pretty clear to me going off of Quintana II and Williams' fights up to Winky that he's graduated past the point where that caliber of fighter will beat him. Quintana caught him at the right moment physically and mentally. If Quintana tried slickness again in a rematch, he'd get blasted from range. Williams does everything better now than he did then, and although we've had some fun today laughing about all the exaggeration of his potential, I don't think that statement is exaggeration.
The word should have been ARENT VALID. Without biased??? then why is it that your the only person here calling for a rematch with Quintana, at the same time I recall you defending Margo for not fighting a rematch with Williams?? T Nuthugging isnt really my thing, Im not even a diehard fan of Williams, I just see the guy for what he is, a nightmare for guys that fight between 147 and 160. As far as your other post about which fight was a fluke, I will say, its only a matter of checking out the punch stat numbers, and the fact that Quintana also went after Cotto, and Julio in his biggest fights. Maybe you should not worry as much about watching fights without biased and just watch the fights:yep
I think that at 6'3" Dawsons the one guy that might beat Paul. However Dawson is a natural 175 pounder at this point in his career and Paul is a natural 154 maybe 160 pounds so i dont think the fight is really fair.
There always a variety of ways to beat a given fighter. I don't think there is anyone at 154 that could make any effective plan work against Williams. He has to many physical advantages. At 147 I think PBF could blister and move his way to a win . . . . . maybe. At 160 I doubt if he could make Pavlik respect him. Plus, even though Paul throws an ungodly number of punches, KP's power and toughness, along with his own 80 punches a round would shut Paul's workrate down. Basically, you do not try to outbox Williams. Ya Pavlikate him. Pressure, pressure, and more pressure. Bully and maul, and keep forcing Paul backward. Grin at him when he lands flush, and keep comin'. Show him no respect whatsoever, and chop that skinny body up. A bigger, stronger, tougher man, who hits way harder, could force Paul into a war of attrition, and knock him out. At 160, Sturm would try to outbox Paul, and get beat up for it. AA may very well hide behind his shell and lose a clear UD, unless he landed something big early. Pavlik is the one guy I think is all wrong for Paul at 160. I don't even want to talk about anything above 160 for awhile yet.
There is no word on the Mora fight. I'm hoping it fell through. I'm hoping we get to see Pavlik/Williams in July, and Pavlik/Abraham in November. That's possible if Arum and Goosen can grow up and act like businessmen. Paul is hot right now. Why let him grow into the weight, and get better and better? Grab him NOW!!
