Assuming hatton resumes with his roughhouse tactics, would you like to have a referee that let the fighters fight..

or a referee that jumps immediately to break the fighters up when they clinch?..cortez style!

This is about a 50-50 fight.

And given that, IMO, the ref was essential to Hatton's win over Tszyu, I believe the kind of reffing we get here could decide tis fight.

The ref is always a very important consideration and inconsistant standards has always been one of the things that irritate me hugely.

Personally I prefer a ref who let's the fighters get on with it, it's not a tickling match afterall.

The ref's role is always huge with fighters like Hatton. He jabs his way in and the holds and punches on the inside. The type of ref one prefers depends on who one favors in this one. If you're a Hatton fan, you would want a ref similar to the Tszyu fight: letting Hatton pretty much get away with murder as he kept KT's right hand under his left armpit for a big chunk of the fight. If you want Pac to win, you'll prefer a ref like Cortez who breaks every clinch.

I am fully in favor of a ref that gives Hatton ultimate leeway.

I think you will find that Hatton was a wily old fox.

So you're saying we will be able to spot the Hatton/Pacquiao fans from the Refs they like? I think you may be right.

You're way more likely to get a Cortez style Ref as it's in Vegas.

British Refs allow boxers to fight a much rougher match than the Americans, although the U.S. Refs let the fighters get way more hurt than the U.K. Refs seem to, with swelling and cuts and such.

Referee's role will be a factor in crucial moments especially when one of the fighters is doing bad tactics.. However, I am hoping that this fight will be fair, clean and entertaining... Coz these two fighters are both warriors and exciting to watch...

After watching the Hatton-Malignaggi fight I think hatton can fight without to much roughhouseing, with that said I hope they get Kenny Bayless.

He's a smart, smart fighter and deserves all the credit he got for beating an ATG. I just hope that he doesn't let the ref's style frustrate him like it did in the Mayweather fight. He got pissed and stopped calculating his aggression as he usually does - ultimately ending in disaster.

Agreed. As intense as this fight promises to be, I don't think that Hatton will let himself make that mistake again. He regretted his haste as soon as he got picked up off the floor.

The referee will be the most important guy in the ring other than the two fighters.
