I don't think either guy is bad for the sport. Taylor has always taken on tough fights, even though he doesn't set my pulses racing from a style viewpoint. He's fought Hopkins twice, Wright, Pavlik, rematched him after getting KO'd. And now Froch, even though he didn't seem keen on the fight, credit to him he finally took it. Froch is going to the US in his first defence to fight Taylor, that says a lot about him.
i give froch a 20% chance of beating taylor. if taylor takes it to froch and trys to put on a show, that is froch`s best chance. if taylor decides from the outset to make this a saftey first fight , taylor walks it.
i guess froch winning will be more exciting for europe and taylor winning will be more exciting for america but see this is the thing with me.... even in europe... the best guys never match up man... the damn euro guys situation always seem to suck... the top guys NEVER EVER seem to match up with one another and just fight sub par guys for the longest... atleast thats how it seems to me.... maybe its just the division tho & lack of big names Yeah maybe..... nobody in the states would be interested in that though
This is right on point. Froch might have power, and I don't think failing to knock out Pascal shows his power is not much, but its very raw power that isn't ultilized very well. He virtually jumps to plant his feet, and some are extremely wide shots. His handspeed is naturally slow which does not help. I think you are right, he did far better when he used his jab after a few rounds, its a far better way of making him less predictable. Pascal ducked down everytime and took the heat out of the partially blocked shots.

Froch has a very good chance. Froch has geniune power. Jermain Taylor has been known to fight to his opponents strengths. He's a fighter who will continually make it harder than it really is by neglecting the things he normally does well (solid jab, solid movement, superior speed). He puts himself on the ropes, lowers his hands a smidgeon every time he throws punches, is easy to force into a brawl, fights at his opponents pace etc etc. If Taylor fights his fight, he'll win easily. If he allows himself to get duped into the usual (fighting Froch's fight or fighting at the pace Froch wants to fight), he'll be knocked out.
Pascal has great reflexes for a bigger guy..I don't think Taylor can duplicate that. That said Taylor can do something Pascal cannot by playing it to the vest defensively and making sure as to not leave his chin hanging out and relying on upper body movement like pascal.
You know, i don't agree with everyone who is saying "easy fight for Taylor if he fights his fight, safety first". That doesn't always work against naked aggression and a class chin. Aggression is scored independent of any other virtues it might bring. No, Taylor needs to stay on point, if he shells up he will lose this fight.
He has good chances,a livedog's chances,he has power, aggression and a good chin but I think ultimately Taylor will decision him after some shaky moments.
