to be honest it doesn't say that much about froch because this is a gift for him - for exactly the same reasons which you used to say why taylor deserves all the respect in the world (and that was perfectly said).

the big question for froch will be what will he do after this fight - win or lose - because if he loses and stays in britain then he was never willing to do enough to make the taylor fight happen to begin with and if he wins that counts double.

this is froch's meal ticket and all he really needs to do is put up a damn good showing, give his promoter a kick in the ass, and take a chance.

if he doesn't do that - well you know the story.

The key isn't tob e safety first. It's to not put himself in the position he constantly puts himself every fight. He can't put his back to the ropes, he can't stop moving, he can't allow Froch to dictate the pace and he can't allow Froch to force him into a slugfest. Don't get overconfident and lower your hands and basically beg for a straight right hand.

Taylor's issue is fighting smart. If he fights smart, he can fight aggressive and win. If he doesn't fight smart, he'll lose whether he's cautious, agressive or a statue.

"Fighting his fight" to me basically means using his strengths instead of going out full blast with his weaknesses.

Agreed. I've noticed Froch goes to the ropes a bit and if that happens, Taylor needs to punch smart and not just throw everything and the kitchen sink. Taylor needs to be very disciplined to win this fight.

I've never seen Taylor firing the kitchen sink.

Anyway, to put it another way, Taylor got clocked by Lacy and shelled up. I think Froch would win that fight.

Supposedly Jermain Taylor is having one of the best training camps of his career

Pavlik I when he had him in trouble. He was throwing way too many sloppy punches because he tasted blood. He can't do that if he gets Froch against the ropes.

    Agree about the Lacy point.

He by his own admission let everything go against Pavlik in their 1st fight and punched himself out. He said in hindsight he shoud've paced himself.

I think we're on the same page about shelling up, just with different wording. I'm more worried about him locking up mentally as the fight progresses. I know he's back with his old trainer whose name escapes me at the moment (some ****ing expert I am right?) but I wonder how good it'll do if the going gets rough and Jermain finds himself facing adversity again.

of course he has a chance. this is a 50/50 fight for me. my main worry about Froch is he suffers quite badly from nerves and this being by far his biggest fight i hope he doesnt start too slowly allowing Taylor to find his ( fairly mundane ) rythym.

My memory of that fight is Taylor hurting Palvik, arguably having a chance to win IF he fired the kitchen sink, and not doing it.

no disrespect but this is a typical illusion.
