I bolded and enlarged the names that held the P4P #1 title at one time or another, forget his record against them. He was competitive with all of them at least, except for Pac of course. Tito and Pea held the title didn't they???? :huh
yea Whitaker was # 1 P4P in 1993 and 1994. Felix Trinidad was # 1 P4P in 2000. Oscar fought many top fighters during his career. He's 6 losses were against the best of the best.. Trinidad-Mosley-Hopkins-Mayweather-Pacquaio.. all of them were once # 1 P4P in the world.
He's a modern great. His resume is excellent, his accomploishments are fantastic and is the biggest star boxing has ever had. That's all there is to say really.

Rumours were flying around that Oscar was going to announce a farewell fight against this dude. At his age, that kid would have been too quick and elusive, and it might have been Pacquiao all over again..... so good call Oscar :good

The Mayorga fight was a great one for Oscar. He showed his class that night against a very dangerous awkward customer. If Trinidad hadn't of put in a similar performance against Mayorga this fight would have been talked about alot more and used to really cement Oscar's greatness, because Mayorga gave everyone else big trouble.
One of my favourite boxers of all time. I first heard about him when I was in maybe the 4th or 5th grade because the older girls had posters of him and at first I thought he was a movie star who became an actor and that he turned pro but went back to the amateurs to win the olympic gold. But when I finally got into boxing when I was older I read about his life story and thought he was sort of an inspirational person. But Oscar de la Hoya is a great example of the American dream. Win or lose, he always came to fight. Thanks a lot for the memories Oscar. Good luck with the promoting
