It makes perfect sense if you understand the difference between a meaningless loss, and a meaningful win.

If Oscar had beaten Floyd, it would have been a fantastic win. But the facts are that Oscar was a decade past prime and he was fighting the Pound-for-Pound King.

It would have been a great win, but as things stand, given the context and the circumstances, it was simply a meaningless loss.

What does an old and inactive fighter actually have to lose going in against the P4P King?
Nothing, there is no meaning or signifigance attached to the defeat, because he simply has nothing to lose.

Do you not understand the difference between "losing" to someone, and "not getting the decision" against them?

Oscar beat Trinidad, and he beat Mosley in the 2nd fight.

I suppose you think that Lewis didn't beat Holyfield in their first fight either.

He may have deserved the win against Tito, but Mosley won the rematch.

He beat Quartey - close but clearly. Definetly lost to Sturm though. I thought Oscar did enough to win the fight against Whitaker - who himself didn't quite do enough to deserve the victory.

So, Lewis-Holyfield 1, who do you think won?

In his "controversial" close fights, I had De La Hoya beating Quartey & Trinidad, but I had him losing to Sweet Pea, Sturm, and Mosley II.

I thought Quarty clearly beat DLH. you can tell by the anoucing when it was the 12th round, "DLH needs a KO for this one" Hey its all good I dont Hate DLH. I just think he wasnt that good, but im happy hes retiring in peace
