Before i delve into the 'blueprint' to beat Mayweather, let me just emphasise for the brain deads in here who will no doubt attempt to label me as a nuthugger that i am in no way shape or form a Mayweather Groupie. Many people in here on ESB continue to refer to the Jose Luis Castillo 1 fight as the 'Blueprint' to beat Floyd Mayweather, my question is why? Now, i have watched this proberly 4/5 times and still do not understand how people constantly refer to the educated 'Pressure' and 'body shooting' Castillo deployed as the method to 'beat' Mayweather. This for me was a fight Mayweather definately won by 2-3 rounds, yes this may be close in terms of a Mayweather fight but nonetheless he won the fight. The way people talk on ESB one would get the impression this was a massacre, if you watch, CAREFULLY, Mayweather completely out boxes Castillo but drops rounds due to a shoulder injury. Personally it iritates me when 'fans' rely on hearsay and pass it off as the truth. A few other favourites here are: 'Micheal Nunn was completely dominating James Toney before Toney K.O'd him', 'Nonito Donaire got lucky against Vic Darchinyan', 'Tarver Completely anhiliated Roy Jnes in the first fight', 'Aaron Pryor needed the mysterious black bottle to win'(he was absolutely putting a beatdown on arguello). And the list continues. This is a weak way to analyse boxing by simply passing down recycled information. But like Stalin says 'if you tell a lie a milliion times it becomes the truth'. Conversely, i believe a fighter of Vernon Forrest's style is the man to give Mayweather trouble. As for the 'blueprint' people continue to over use, it truely does not exist as Mayweather has Yet to come close to losing in reality.
Thats quite a good post. Well Done. Dont agree with you on everything though. I think there are a number of people who can beat Mayweather - Cotto, Williams, Mosley. There there are plenty of styles that can be used to beat Floyd
I dont know about blueprint but Jesus Chavez fought pretty well against him. If there's a weakness in Floyd, Id have to say it's against Southpaws.
Maybe to be honest the most trouble i have seen him in is the first 4 rounds Vs Judah. Unfortunately Zab Judah is a fighter of little ring I.Q and struggles to adjust. In his defense he must dread going back to his corner for 'advice' from his 'trainer'. A clear case of a world class fighter needing a world class trainer in his corner.
If you have a good jab, preferably from the southpaw stance and the ability to mix thing up, work on the inside when you need to and also on the outside as well you will cause mayweather no end of problems Also the ability to adapt mid fight would be helpful, one of mayweather main assest is he can adapt his game when things are going wrong, so when he does this his opponent needs to also be able to adapt to the new things floyd will start to do. I give cotto the best chance at 147 downwards if floyd comes back of pulling it of, williams 2nd
Agree, of the mentioned Cotto is the most versatile and brings alot more to the table. He is given very little credit for his skills both offensively AND defensively. He has a pure pugilist attitude. Would love to see PBF try talk smack to Cotto.
I think theres no blueprint because he hasnt lost. hes been in the ring with way bigger guys, southpaws, bigger reach, power punchers, I mean I dont see no way to beat Mayweather at all. I think the best guy to have a shot is Pacquaio. hes a southpaw with great speed, good body work, and is able to adjust in the ring. nbody else even has a shot. maybe williams because he throws alot but then hell start taking right hands like never before.
lol cotto would get worked by mayweather! Paul williams? fight would never happen. Anyways if there are plenty of styles why havent we seen at least 1? He's just great
If he would only fight a cotto, mosley, or, williams, we will finally see how good his fans say he is.
I would't go that far, clearly no one is unbeatable in this sport. As for pacquaio beating mayweather.......i would't be surprised if he gave him hell for 3 maybe 4 rounds, but once Mayweather began to time him i believe he would stop Pac man in the later rounds. Too accurate, too cute, too slick. Stylistically this would be a nightmare for Manny. PBF would neutralise that left hand Marquez style.
