Hang on, he's against a guy that "started 5 weights lower". Does that mean you will be giving Hatton little credit should he win? Of course!:patsch

Now back to the real world...Pacquiao is the favourite and the p4p #1.

Nonsense thread. How about posting something positive for a change, eh?

I think what losing to Pac would do is place a very strict "upper" boundary on how Hattons career is judged. He'll have beaten some decent fighters but losing to Mayweather and then Pac will clearly show where he stood in the grand scheme of things.

If he beats Pac it will only add fire to the debate of course.

The 'he started 5 weights lower' viewpoint is exactly why this isn't a no lose fight as you said.

Hid out in Wales defending his WBO title for ten years against bums and nobodies. Beat a hype job, another belt holder, lost to Hopkins and went the distance with a shot to **** legend.

    Yeah, fantastic.

Right now, I pick Haye. If he wins his next fight, that's different. I'd probably then go for Hamed.

Hamed, he lost to Barrera who moved up in weight.
He never came back from that defeat.
    Dodged Marquez.

Calzaghe was the real deal though

He showed his steel the night of the Lacy fight

Lacy was 8/15 on to win that fight

Big puncher who had smashed Robin Reid to bits

and Calzaghe was expected to fold

But he was cool as Ice on the night and fought a fantastic fight from opening bell

I dont think Calzaghe ducked anyone - he was just in a comfort zone in Wales for so long because it was the way Frank Warren managed him

No-one really - he was a hype job

But we can only now appricate this in hindsight

Prior to the Calzaghe fight he had destroyed Robin Reid

the same Robin Reid who had pushed Calzaghe the wire several years earlier

It was not so much what Lacy had done up to that point but the manner of his voctory over Robin Reid and Scott Pemberton, etc

it was believed he was the next big thing

a big puncher - a Mike Tyson of heavyweights

he was expected to come of age that night by dismantling Calzaghe

despite all this hype about Lacy and his big power

    Calzaghe didnt duck the fight

He took the fight - was cool as Ice on the night

and from the opening round showed Lacy he was on a different level
